Anyone bought a gas can lately?

Remember when the only requirement was that it be red? Ah, the good old days, when you used to be able to fill your gas can, cap it, uncap when ready and pour to your heart's content.

I went to buy a new gas can yesterday and you just about have to have an engineering degree (which I realize a lot of you do) to use them anymore. This way to lock, this way to unlock, pump this many times, or maybe pump a few more times and then maybe some gas will come out. I played with it for ten minutes (that's what she said) and couldn't figure the damn things out. I left both Walmart and Theisen's empty-handed.

Is there any better example of recreating the wheel or building a better mousetrap for absolutely no logical reason whatsoever?

End rant. Sorry to bug you all with this. CF is where I come for therapy.

I wouldn't know. My gas can is a hand me down from my old man. Probably 50 year old stainless steel. Still works like a charm.

Some kid in Missouri probably drank gas and the family sued the manufacturer and got rich.

I bought a new one at Home Depot and thought it was a little ridiculous, but not that hard to figure out. On the new ones you basically just have to push down the nozzle while pouring. What is so hard about that?

If all you had to do was push that'd be fine. These ones I looked at yesterday, you had to twist and lock/unlock, pump a certain number of times to vent. And it didn't seem like they twisted and locked like they were supposed to and I left without buying. Yes, I was intimidated by a $13 gas can.

hahaha I hate my new gas can. It wasn't too difficult to figure out, but it spills everywhere when I push down the nozzle when pouring. I'm sure I'm still doing it wrong though...

How big of gas can are you looking for? I know some gas stations sell the plastic 1 to 3 gallon ones.

That makes two of us...I dread filling up my mower because i know it's going to get all over my hand that is pushing down on the nozzle.

I'm always amazed at how often I just randomly find out that all these posters I assumed were men, are actually little girls. Kind of surprised how many women are in charge of the lawnmower and gas cans, though.

I just went looking for a better gas can on Amazon and landed on the one I looked at yesterday. Some of the customer reviews are entertaining!

Re: Anyone bought a gas can lately?

I have one like this and now that I'm used to it I actually like it. You use your thumb to pull down the black lever thing while you pour. Once you get the hang of it you can actually use the lever to control the speed of the flow which is kind of nice.

I have no experience with them, but the stupid thing about this is if you make them too complicated people are just going to start using rinsed out milk jugs or something much worse than what we had previously.
