My Thoughts on CPR and the Rest of Our Staff

The point of this thread isn't to bake up a batch of frownies or to get anyone angry. Am I the only one under the impression that while CPR has made us a better program, he's nothing more than a 6-6 or 7-5 kind of coach? I feel that as long as we have him we will continue to be around 7th in the Big 12 each year. To me, he just doesn't have what it takes to make us an 8, 9, or 10 win school. What does everyone else think?

I wanted to add that he's not a very good recruiter. While recruiting doesn't mean everything, it obviously is important getting strong, athletic, big time caliber players. Hopefully he proves me wrong and brings a big class together to go along with Lazard. Pulling in one big recruit in a class just won't cut it in the Big 12.

Re: My Thoughts on CPR and the Rest of Our Staff

Unfortunately I don't know that there is a coach who would be willing and able to turn Iowa State into a 10 win program. Football is never going to be a strong suit in Ames...if we can make it respectable that's great in my eyes.

    Basketball on the other hand....

I knew before I clicked this thread that it would suck and so would the poster. Upon clicking, I was correct. But upon further inspection, I see the truth in bold

I'm no troll, graduated from ISU and watch every single football and basketball game (other than lousy non-conference basketball games that can't be found on any TV station in the DC area) possible (just don't post very often on CF). Maybe I'm expecting and hoping to become an elite football program, and everyone here is misinterpreting my opinion. I really just don't think CPR recruits well enough to be able to make us great. Hoiberg on the other hand is going to take us to an elite status.

Based on his opening post, I bet he doesn't get a lot of things.
