Paterno family filing lawsuit against NCAA

    They want the sanctions overturned:
Former Penn State players support Paterno lawsuit - CBSSports.com

I think the NCAA should open this case back up and do what they should have done the first time around...give Penn St. the Death Penalty. It was completely disrespectful to all of those victims and their families that Penn St. was on national television almost every week last fall. It made me want to vomit. They should have had the Death Penalty.

The Paternos need to deal with what JoePa covered up and move on. This is getting old.

**** all 325 of these former players. Reading that is disgusting. The victims deserve due process, not a dead cover up artist like Paterno and all the people who believe him. This **** is more disgusting than David Koresch and the Branch Davidians.

Re: Paterno family filing lawsuit against NCAA

This doesn't exactly make me a Penn State fan.
If the lawsuit could somehow shut that whole stinking program down, then I'm all for it.

Really, anything (outside of more abuse) that could shut it down is something that I'm in favor of.

A just outcome is making absolutely certain that football is never again put ahead of basic decency at Penn State. It may take the death penalty to get their priorities straight. It's pretty obvious they aren't there yet.

5 Year banishment from the NCAA! I used to like Penn state due to my respect for Joe pa but that is all gone and would be happy for them to get the death penalty, the way they're portrayed right now is that their fans and program are heroes for overcoming this "obstacle"

Now espn can talk about the adversity Penn State has overcome even more. I'll pretend that that doesn't make me want to vomit.

The past Penn State, can shut up. They've gotten rid of anyone who was involved in it so who cares.

I believe one of the reasons they only got 5 years of sanctions instead of the death penalty was that they weren't supposed to fight the decision. I really want the NCAA to rip them a new one.

Is anyone who is in a position of power at Penn State currently involved with it? If not, then your opinion is just dumb.

I actually agree with CyDude16. (not about the "dumb" part)
The Paternos don't officially represent Penn State. The NCAA would be walking right into a nasty lawsuit if they tried to alter the school's punishment over a lawsuit from Joe's family.

Agreed with the bolded part, which raises the question as to what legal standing the Paternos have to sue the NCAA over sanctions against Penn State. Are the Paternos somehow materially affected by the sanctions? Perhaps some in the legal profession who post here can comment.

A statement from Penn State asking the Paternos to drop the lawsuit would be interesting...
