Jack Trice 6th best stadium in Big 12

Ranking the Big 12's College Football Stadiums | AthlonSports.com

Pretty good write up. I agree with his rankings, and reasoning behind each. He's over-selling the atmosphere at Tech, IMO, but that stadium has a beautiful exterior, and during the Leach era, it was a very intimidating crowd.

Unfortunatley, Tech will have that atmosphere back, it's going to be a hard place to play once again with Kliff there. He's exactly like Leach

    8. Amon Carter Stadium, TCU
    Opened: 1929
    Capacity: 45,000
    2012 Attendance: 46,047 (48th)
The building is brand new and fans showed up in force last year (over capacity)

I went to the ISU-TCU game and it was maybe half full. Maybe they are using Kinnick's inflated ticket scanners at the gates.

It was more than half full.

Lots of empty seats though, for sure.

Maybe they have a tarp too and seats covered count?

Half of the football stadiums in the Big 12 are worse than the high school stadiums in Texas? That's hard to believe...

We played them during the school's Fall Break with no students on campus. So half-full and a crappy day like that wasn't too bad.

Yeah... Can't wait for this fall's showdown when Kansas comes to Jack Trice on the first day of Thanksgiving break. Even if ISU is 5-5 at that point (or better), I don't think a game against a 2-8 squad will get the casual students to stick around.

I think it will be fine.

The start of Thanksgiving Break isn't that bad, its when the game is at the end of break, like WVU last year.

It's great to be #6. The big 10 and sec dwarf the big 12 in stadium sizes...

And the Big 12 exceeds the Pac-12 and ACC.

Especially if it's a day game, you could still be home for dinner on Saturday conceivably. What time do they lockdown the dorms for break?

Re: Jack Trice 6th best stadium in Big 12

Iowa State is home to one of the most underrated home atmospheres in the nation in a building named after Iowa’s first black athlete. The passion of the fans cannot be questioned as the Cyclones outdrew their capacity in 2012 on a team that barely reached the postseason the last two seasons. In the works are future expansions of the south end zone and east concourse. The move will upgrade the facilities across the board and will add an upper deck to the end zone. This isn’t the most daunting home field experience, but it has consistently over-delivered compared to its team success.
Must have done some really stellar research for this writeup... since, you know, that's been done for a few years.
