    Kansas City Trip

Will be heading to KC for a weekend next month. Will be going to a Royals game and tons of BBQ, but other than that, we are not very sure what else to do. Brewery tour would be nice, but I think all the times are sold out. Any other suggestions?

Also hotels. We have stayed at the Comfort Inn downtown, but would like to try something different. Are there any good ones around downtown or Westport in the $100-150/night range?

Bit out of the way but Sadler Indoor Racing is fun if you're into go-karting. A little on the expensive side but the karts haul ***. About a half hour from downtown KC in Olathe if I remember right.

    Boulevard Brewery like you mentioned.

The College Basketball Experience and Hall of Fame are attached to the Sprint Center. Well worth $12.

Oklahoma Joe's is fantastic. Hole in the wall, but fantastic.

Agree with this 100%. Also be sure to check out the Negro League Baseball Museum. It's one of the best sport's museums I've been to.

    Re: Kansas City Trip

Don't stay at the Comfort Inn, you can find better value. You have to walk through an area that is a tad shady at night if you want to go to the P&L. Embassy Suites is between the Plaza and Westport is OK if you prefer that area. The Power and Lights District downtown has some great night life. You can probably get the Crowne Plaza or Downtown Marriott at a decent price. Hotel Phillips sometimes has some good deals depending on the weekend. Boulevard Brewery has free tours, show up first thing in the morning and you should get in one of the first tours. As far as BBQ, I like Gates and Arther Bryants. Jack Stack is OK, their sides are better than their meats IMO.

If you don't visit the World War One Museum, you have no business visiting the Internet again. The stench of failure on you will be much too great.

I would love to see the Negro League Museum. Haven't gotten there, but I need to.

This. You could probably score something closer to 75.

Rectify the first part, or we'll take care of the 2nd part the hard way.

You have to check out the Negro Leagues Museum. The Bouelvard tour is awesome! My three favorite BBQ joints to eat at are Oklahoma Joe's, Smokin Guns, and Woodyard.

    Re: Kansas City Trip

Steam Boat Arabia is a must visit if you are in KC. The Nelson Atkins Museum is cool too.

I would visit any of the mentioned barbecue joints, but if you are looking for good non barbecue a great place to visit is Grinders. They were featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and the owner Stretch is one of a kind. Another non barbecue place close to The K is Dixon's Chili. If you visit Dixon's I usually order mine wet, or get the all you can eat tacos.

As far as Westport goes, I live in Westport and it's definitely not what it used to be.
