ISU must recruit athletic big men and not over do it on guard recruitment

We need big men in the line-up to compete with KU and OSU, otherwise its "ground hog day" again finishing in the middle of the pack in the Big 12. ISU needs fast, athletic big men, that must be Hoibergs first priority in recruiting this upcoming season in my opinion. These are the hardest players to recruit BUT they will be well worth it. If we can do this it will be a game changer for us because we have the best shooting small team in the U.S. Having tall players who can run the floor and rebound it will be what takes us to that next level. My starting lineup will surprise some of you because I put Gibson in it: Gibson; Niang; Ejim; SG Thomas and PG Bluford (hopefully Morris). I see this summers workout and weight training as a game changer for Gibson. Sorry for all you negative thinkers but I believe in Gibson, anyone who is all academic can figure what he needs to do to take his game to another level and if he wants to reach the potential we all know he has, he will do it this summer. He can rebound, block shots and he definitely has more than one shot, he can be deadly anywhere in the paint.

Huh? Someone want to shoot Hoiberg an e-mail and let him know that he does, in fact, have to recruit athletic big men? I'm sure he could use a refresher because I'm absolutely certain he isn't trying to do just that.

And the next time Gibson has a shot which isn't the "forced up in the middle of traffic left handed baby hook" might be the first.

    Fail.

Top recruiting priority is Vaughn. No doubt, probably take him over all big men.

And strangely enough, Gibson in your starting line up doesn't bother me near as much as Bluford being in there. I see either MM or Kane at point, and KJ as the scorer off the bench.

Ummmm, no offense, but didnt we finish 2nd and 3rd the last two years?? Last time I checked there were 10 Big 12 teams. "Middle of the pack", NO, not really at all. We werent 5th or 6th or even 4th for that matter.

Huh, and all this time i thought we were competitive with KU and OSU.
I guess if we are a buzzer beater away from the sweet 16 again next year I won't be to disappointed.

And i disagree with you on needing a big man too.

Twenty-nine posts in, Gerojohnson and you're writing crap like this? You've got to step up your game. This isn't cutting it.

Ugh, more Amardi fall out? S-T-F-U, you don't think Fred is trying to recruit big men? We have like 10 offers out for 2014 alone. Relax, they will come.

I hope the Bluford at PG was a mistype otherwise I am going to have a tough time reading anything you post. We all would like a athletic 6'8 or 6'10 guy. We know he is looking and I think we will see him get one next year. Thats only my gut feeling no facts to back it up.

Yeah an athletic big man fits Fred's system way better than a player like Niang that can play inside and outside...
