Re: Yancy McKnight's S/C treadmill workout

I have some connections to Power Lift who provided those weight racks among other equipment.

They are truly unique to the nation. When I got a look at them and explained what they can do it was really awesome. I was told they are the most advanced weight racks they ever made. Really awesome.

Lol, good to see your bitterness about your hero mac the mediocre being fired is so deep that you take a shot at the guy who replaced your idol in an article that has nothing to do about him.

Seemed like a pretty basic comment to me. Poster was just saying that we have come a long way with an improved strength and conditioning program. He didn't mention Coach Mac at all. I'm not sure why you have a problem with that post or with the poster.

Wow, where'd that come from? Kind of a stretch, isn't it? After all, I'd have to say it's along way from--who was it for McCarney? Coach McGettigan?--as well...

You will see a noticeable difference in team speed with these. Its not a matter of if, but when.
There will be a big initial burst for sure, but it will probably level off. They are tough, but woodway makes a treadmill where the runner moves the belt and weight can be added. Both are tough, but the woodway is tougher, IMHO. These treadmills are still a great workout especially with as much as they are used.

Maybe a dumb question, but in a game where many other programs have MUCH more money than Iowa State, why are we the only ones with this? Just pure innovation from our coaches, or something else? I mean, you can't tell me that Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, etc. couldn't afford to do this as well. Just curious.

I would imagine that they have older (i.e. more experienced and more $$) people running their workout programs. So they are set in their ways of doing what always has worked for them. If it aint broke, dont fix it.

Exactly, and at 25k each (or 150k for 6 like we have), it might be a hard sell to try them out if you're not really set on the idea. 150k is still a lot of money for even say Texas, because there's plenty of other things you could buy with that.

They both have their pros and cons. I'm just glad our S&C staff has put in a fairly rigorous speed training program into their workouts.

Next purchase for the Cyclone club is some Woodway treadmills to cover the bases says I.

And I agree with previous poster - great article by Ames Trib and Le Gesse.
