    Dish network VS. Direct tv

So we're considering getting a satillite tv provider and were wondering which would be the best choice in this between Dish Network and Directv. Im curious which is more popular has the best channels for the price. Yes i've looked at the websites. directv is the only one that will give you a monthly "price" over the internet where as dish you have to call it would seem like. so anyone wanna give there input that'd be great.

If you're a sports fan you won't find anything better than Directv

I have only had directv for 12 hours so far I am pleased though. The installer was very helpful and explained everything well. Apparently they just got new equipment yesterday so I was the first one here to get it.

This will be a short thread because the question falls into the no-contest category.

Re: Dish network VS. Direct tv

Currently have Dish (roommate is an installer), have never had DirecTV. From*what I've heard DirecTV has a lot better sports selection, but you also pay quite a bit more for it.

Overall I've been pleased with Dish. Our bill is just under $75 a month, but I couldn't tell you which package we have. (& no, we don't get a discount) I know we have any network channel I could want, all ESPN's, Golf, B1G, etc. We've also had a free trial of about 4 movie channels for almost a year now, but I think my roommate might have something to do with that.

Re: Dish network VS. Direct tv

I've been happy with Dish so far, other than the first receiver I got the second tuner was bad so the DVR wasn't able to record most of the time. Shipped one priority and since then no issues. With the Sports Pack I haven't missed any ISU games outside those that would be on Cyclones.tv, but so far I've been at all those games anyway.

Never had DirecTV but I'm not much of a NFL fan so NFL Ticket doesn't interest me anyway

I'm not sure where you're looking but Dish definitely tells you what the monthly charge will be on the website when you build your package.

Re: Dish network VS. Direct tv

directv has much better equipment/interfaces and is more intuitive to navigate around inside, remote is better also.

There are so many little bells and whistles you dont notice till you go from directv to dish, like for example, I can watch my whole home dvr from a laptop or computer with DIRECTV2PC.

Also as other have said, sports is awesome. I really appreciate my channel selection during college fb season.

I'm pretty sure Dish's new Hopper thing can do the TV anywhere stuff.

Re: Dish network VS. Direct tv

I've had Dish for about 4 years now and have had no issues. I have the Hopper, which is fantastic. People always talk about how Directv is so much better for sports but I don't think thats really the case. If you want NFL Sunday Ticket, then yeah Directv is the only way to go. But if you don't have a need for that (which I don't) then Dish should get you everything you want. I have never had an issue finding a game I wanted to see.
