I probably read too much into them. However, Dany's visit to the House of the Undying was full of amazing. Also, I read a lot into Jaime's dream of him and Brienne and the swords. I just have a feeling everything Old Nan croaked out was true to at least some degree cause so many wrote her off. And I hope she is still alive somewhere and whoops Theon's sorry azz,

Time to prepare for the books to be different than the TV show. It's a shame for us book lovers, but they seem to be shrinking the scale of it a bit.

I am going to be ****** if the show starts advancing past the books. I think that would be odd if it happens though. Does anyone know what makes more money - the show or the books? I would think there is going to be lots of people buying The Winds of Winter, but maybe there is more incentive for GRRM to work on the show rather than the books. I'll just shut my mouth if he releases the next book this summer though.

I think if they show him, it will be obvious because he will be riding an Elk. They usually get that type of detail correct... I often find myself recognizing people/places based on the descriptions given in the books. Although I'm starting to think that if we don't see him show up at Craster's Keep, we won't see him at all.

The battle at the Wall will be the 9th (I think) episode. They hired the same person who directed the Battle of the Blackwater to do that episode.

They had to find a way to keep them involved in these seasons so it isn't out of nowhere when they popped up again in 3 seasons. Hope they don't have too crazy of ideas for them.

I'd always assumed he was, but wasn't sure it was going to be a big enough plot point to matter.

Yea, will be interesting to see how this plays out. The Mountain/Viper fight is definitely episode 8 (that is the title of the episode), so wonder if episode 9 will be the Wall battle, or Tywin/Shae (or both!). Their practice has been to make the second to last episode quite memorable. I had assumed Ygritte would be getting it early in the South Wall attack, but maybe that is wrong. She did say that they are waiting for a huge bonfire from Mance to signal a coordinated attack (different than book).

Anyone think the little boy who claimed to be the best archer in the hamlet will do in Ygritte as revenge?

I have always thought Coldhands was Benjen, but does anyone have anything that actually points to him? A vision or something?

Coldhands calls Sam brother, so he was most likely a member of the Night's Watch like Benjen Stark. The story is that the Children of the Forest killed Coldhands a long time ago, which is strong evidence against the theory that Benjen is Coldhands. Benjen hasn't been dead long.

I generally subscribe to the theory that Coldhands is not Benjen, but that Benjen could show up later in a similar fashion as Coldhands. The theory is that Coldhands role in the story is essentially to prep the reader for Benjen showing up later, similar to how Beric Dondarrion and Catelyn may simply be prepping the reader for more reanimations in the future.

I remember him as being very old as well. I am re-reading so I will have to keep an eye out for any related info.

Re: Games of Thrones Book Thread (With Spoilers)

I can't recall, but I don't think the show has mentioned the Children of the Forest much either. I can't recall either if Arya ran into the old woman (who some think was a cotf) who told her all those visions, that have come true, all except for Catelyn returning. Part of what I liked about the series is how all these "tales" seemed so unreal and just tales, then came to life.

Additionally, the "winter is coming" and how no one remembers winter, and thinks this is normal, etc. It just seems to me the slow unveil of the magic and mystery has just been heightened and revealed much more quickly than what made it so interesting to read.

Hopefully, they don't go all "True Blood" and ruin it. Honestly, my wife and I listen to True Blood books on long car rides, and they are fun, but the series just went way too big and has jumped the shark for me. If Game of Thrones gets impatient and starts advancing story lines too quickly just to make it better TV it will suffer for it. They seem to be trying a bit too hard this season to add intrigue. It is a subtle story and should be kept that way in my opinion.

But I agree with the one poster that thinks the Reeds getting captured so easily by a bunch of drunkards/rapists is kinda offputting. They were supposed to be so stealthy.
Well its only one chapter before the cave right, lol. I loved his story in Book 5 (though it was very short).

I have no clue what you are talking about. They seem to be slowing things down, if anything. They are adding extra material north of the wall. In the books, when Jon got back, the Wildlings were already attacking. Bran was ahead so they slowed him down. Everything else is right where it should be.

But they will definitely cut some of AFFC and ADWD down. Several parts won't make for great TV.
