This has a pretty good season by season, book by episode differences mapping

Ah, I see. I think that creepy SOB is a pretty good villain in the show! I guess he is actually pretty close to how I pictured him when reading. Hate him.

I found myself wishing Dany would listen to Daario during ADWD. She needed to be brutal like he advised.

I like Daarion in the books. No way he ends up married to Khaleesi, but Men have their Paramours why shouldn't Dany?

I think maybe in the books Dany might be even a little younger. Mormont creeps me out a lot. I don't trust him because of his obsession.

Jorah is a little creepy. Also, it's ironic he gets kicked out of Westeros by Ned Stark for slaving, and then joins up with Dany who is killing any slaver she encounters.

Correct me if I'm wrong, which I probably am, but didn't Ser Barristan take awhile to "reveal" who he was in the book? In the show it was just "Hey Dany, I used to work for the King but got kicked out. So can I come work for you instead?"

Re: Games of Thrones Book Thread (With Spoilers)

I thought some interesting deviations from the books last episode, but I liked them.

I do not remember Gilly living in Molestown. Am I fogetting that?

I remember the Iron Bank coming to Stannis aid on their own, not being brought in by Devos. I like this change though which gives Davos some more screen time, and I like the character and actor.

Also, the tossing of the chains over the walls of Mereen was a good addition, unless I am just forgetting that.

I liked the conversation between Tywin and Tommen. Tommen much older in the series, and we never really get to see much of Tywin in the books except through his children's eyes. Thought him quizzing Tommen over Joffrey's body showed his ruthlessness as well as his intelligence.

I was really starting to like the hound and he has to go rob a helpless farmer.

Nope, Gilly never lived in Molestown. So far they haven't introduced Mance's wife ("wife?") and child, so I'm not sure how they are going to do the whole baby swap thing when Sam and Gilly leave the Wall? This must be a deviation that sets up that storyline.

We discussed the conversation between Tywin and Tommen. That was smart, and it showed just how cunning Tywin really is - and, like you said, his ruthlessness. That was incredibly cruel to both Joffrey (who deserved it, admittedly) and Cersei.

I didn't really like how they basically had Jaime rape Cersei in the sept. That's not him at all.

I love how fast Tywin moves on to Tommen. I love the fact that Tommen actually puts some thought into his answers.

The whole rape deal ruins that scene from the books I think. I always felt in the books it was indicative of how manipulative Cersei is and how messed up they are with the focus on them and their issues. The rape just makes Jamie look bad. Not more complex but bad. Doesn't do anything for me.

Maybe the scene was to read as "conflicted consensual" sex, but I too thought it was more like Jaime raping her. Did not like that change at all either.

    - Yea, that scene totally sucked. Since she spurned his advances before, would have been much better to shoot it as her trying to manipulate Jaime into killing Tyrion by allowing him to have her.

    - Dany's scene was so totally kick ***. Love the way she talks. I did not remember the catapult thing either, so I don't think they did it. But awesome idea. Would have rocked to have Drogon fly overhead at the end.

    - Ugh, should have been Strong Belwas.

    - Figured Hound would have to do something stupid. He and Arya were getting too close/cozy and she needs a reason to get away from him. Be interesting to see how they handle it. I suppose another fight and he finally gets the wound the book gave him in the Inn.

    - I don't remember NW deciding to go back to Crasters to prevent the traitors from being captured by Mance (if they end up doing that). Did that happen? Seems confusing since Ygritte and Thenns are supposed to attack from the South. Where will Jon Snow be?

    - Even though Gilly never went to Moletown, the Night's Watch recruits from there, so many residents end up at the Wall. Possibly the wildlings will attack Moletown next and she ends up back at Wall.

I like to imagine a bunch of Prince Oberyn types scurrying around the mountains in Northern Dorne and annoying the hell out of the Targaryen's until they just give up.

I think that's a lot of it though, Dorne is really difficult to invade from the north because of the mountains, and they wouldn't have to fight in the open there.

I cannot recall directly what was explained in the books, but when Aegon conquered the Seven Kingdoms, he was unable to conquer Dorne. The Dorne's did not fight out on the field and allow Aegon to utilize dragons. They fought guerrilla warfare.

Subsequent descendants of Aegon brought Dorne into the realm through marriage, including Elia to Rhaegar.

I am reading nothing of this thread, but I on the 3rd book and I read the Daenerys chapter when she "bought" The Unsullied the other night. OH.MY.GOODNESS

I loved that. So much. I had a feeling that something like that would happen, but Martin laid it out perfectly. I liked the part where the guys face melted off.

    Ok. That is all. BYE!
