    Justin Webster

Anyone else as intrigued with this guy as I am?

He played RB in HS at 6'1" and 217 lbs, and he runs a 4.42 40. He's listed as an Athlete and not a RB. So I'm not sure where he will end up for us, but he would make an unbelievable LB someday if he could add 15-20 lbs. Very fast. He could also be a good slot guy too I suppose on offense with his moves and speed. I don't really see him at RB for us, since we're so loaded there, but what a prospect he could be.

    Thoughts?

I see a future linebacker, personally.

With speed like that, there is so many options from DB, RB, WR or LB. I would like to see him as a SS personally.

    Re: Justin Webster

He would be a beast at SS with that size and speed. I don't know why, but I don't see him ending up on offense so I predict either safety or LB. I'd bet on LB after he puts on more muscle weight.

I'm certain (well, almost certain) CPR talked about JW as a linebacker. Pretty certain. Almost certain. . . .

Since the kid got his first mention on this board, I've been intrigued by him. IIRC, watching h.s. video of the kid some months ago, he appeared to be strong and fast, giving credibility to his reported statistics.

Another gem the staff unearthed, it looks like.

    Big, strong, speedy linebacker.

Isn't he the guy that broke his leg last season? Could be why he didn't blow up in the rankings.

Not quite a typical clonedude post, but close enough.

I guess some people actually watch videos, do research, and pay attention to what CPR says.

Webster is a state champion sprinter (10.73 100m in small school class) who was a running back in high school. Very good athleticism and straight line speed. Part of the reason he wasn't more highly recruited was because of a broken leg as a senior (same thing with early enrollee Alton Meeks)--thankfully not a knee injury, as with Big Dawg Williams. Not sure what Webster has done in track this spring, I suppose someone could google. Apparently I'm too lazy. :win:

Anyway, interestingly enough, As I recall, CPR mentioned both Webster and last minute signee Justin Madison as weakside linebackers...and Madison, in his way, has just as impressive a resume. Student body president, dad was a star basketball player at FSU, almost went with hoops as his option in college. Coach Rhoads raved over both "Justins" on Signing Day.

Nice that CPR keeps signing excellent athletes, regardless of "stars"--though I'm sure that at some point, someone may well look at them and say "He just signed them because of their size"...

He was talked about as a linebacker by CPR in the signing day show and I do not recall any coaches every mentioning him at running back (although I would love to see him there with that size and speed). According to rivals he had offers from the Air Force and Naval academies. I love the fact that we aren't just getting a good football player, but also a great kid.

He also had one of the great quotes regarding the Oklahoma State game, "I saw a program come alive that night. I saw a team on fire."

    Re: Justin Webster

No doubt Justin Webster has had the athletic talent to do well in a number of roles (on the field). What remains is to see how he has recovered from his leg fracture. It was reported, at the time, that there was accompanying ligament damage. (Meeks reported that he had no ligament damage with his fracture.) Unfortunately, this is the kind of injury that can leave some lasting affects.

Give him a RS year to bulk up a little bit, I see an all big 12 LB here.

The way he runs reminds me of Jake Knott.
