Getting dog to leave wound alone...

So dog tore up pad on paw somehow. And will not leave it alone. To the point where he is now getting sores on his lip.

We've tried dog socks. Any other remedies or idea before we bust out the cone?

They sell some stuff that reeks and tastes terrible. We put that on our beagle's paw when she gets to licking. After that, cone of shame!

Go to Blains or a tack shop and buy some salve they put on horse wounds. Dogs HATE the taste of it, plus it doesn't stain carpet or furniture.

Agree. Except I'd go with Stumpy.

Seriously, the only thing that works for my dogs is the cone.

Cone of shame. My dog has had hers on almost 2 weeks after her surgery. Not taking chances.

Peanut butter on the other paw. When it is gone, it is gone and maybe he will have satisfied his craving to lick and stop. Never tried it, but it made sense to me when I first thought of it.

That's like putting a beer in both hands and thinking I'm only going to drink one.

If we give you enough, you will eventually stop. Nah, you're right, mine was a dumb idea.
