I saw this story on 17 (channel 13 news). The connection was really bad with reporter, but it almost sounded like the suspect hung himself. Hopefully she escaped too.

I know it's not likely, but they never caught who killed those girls in Waterloo, did they?

Re: Missing Child in Webster county

Volunteer Dayton firefighters, ISU police, Boone County, Webster County and Dayton police responded to the call to help search for the missing 15-year-old.

Seems odd that ISU police would respond to something that happened in Webster and Boone counties. Hopefully the second girl is okay and this scumbag gets put away for a long time (if he did indeed abduct them and depending what actually happened of course)

Re: Missing Child in Webster county

I would think that ISU police were called in to help because they're a local organization with diminished responsibilities now that classes are out. The Ames PD can fill in locally, leaving the ISU guys free to drive up and help out.

With one of the two girls getting away and walking to safety, the kidnapper hanging himself and the police having a good idea of how this happened, I hope that it's just a case of them not finding the girl yet safely sitting in a barn or shed somewhere. God, I hope that's the case.

that makes sense, just caught me by surprise since Dayton is about 40 miles from Ames

Uh, not good. The abductor they found dead was on the sex offender list. I'm glad the one girl got away, but hate that the other girl is not found and he killed himself...that doesn't sound good.

I hope the search for the missing girl turns out better than the search for the missing Jewell man.

I imagine this is especially true when school is out of session.
