Cool interactive chart-Who does your college think it's peers are?

Who Does Your College Think Its Peers Are? - Administration - The Chronicle of Higher Education

    Someone analyze this.

There is a rank based on who you chose and who chose you, ISU showed up 81 out of 1595.

Yeah, not sure what that's all about..

I don't think the whole median SAT stat is very relevant to ISU, though. Nobody I know that went there even took the SAT.

I took it, but I had to go to Chicago to do so. I didn't take it for my application to ISU though.

Princeton didn't pick any peers, not even Harvard or Yale.

Is there some metric that switches median ACT scores to median SAT scores?

It looks like a head of broccoli.

This is an ink-blot test, right?

I don't really get this particular thing, but it is kind of interesting to look at the "Peer 11," which is a group of eleven universities in a defined peer group that Iowa State is in. I didn't think of some of these schools as peers of ISU before I saw this list:

    Land-Grant 11 peers

what's interesting to me is Iowa didn't think we were peers. I suppose they have the high-level doctorate programs but if we are peers with OSU, MN, and Wisc (IMO those are better than Iowa) we should be with Iowa. Clearly we are not peers in sports, in a good way!

Arizona is the only one on there that I wouldn't have expected. All the rest of those have very strong ag programs......several of those are top engineering schools as well.

I'm not sure I'd have listed Iowa as a peer in education either. Sure there's some overlap between the schools, but there's a lot of things that ISU has that Iowa doesn't. ( Or "doesn't" have)

exactly. They overlap with schools like UW because of law/liberal arts/certain types of engineering, but we overlap with UW because of ag/vet met/other certain types of engineering. ISU and Iowa don't really overlap in their respective strengths.

The Big Ten continue to make me want to vomit with their choices. It appears that they each only chose each other.
