    Jeopardy College Tournament

Has there ever been a Cyclone on the Jeopardy College Tournament? I don't remember any.

Without fail, all four years in college, I would check the Jeopardy website about 1-2 weeks after the testing deadline.

I'm always shocked how little those kids know.

Friend of mine took the qualifying test and said he thought he did well but never got contacted. Wonder how good you have to do on that test to move on.

I don't know about ISU students but the former football coach at Ames High who also taught history was on Jeopardy in either the late 80s or early 90s. I think he won some money but the internets doesn't go back that far.

I took it in Omaha 15 years or so years ago. It was a fifty question test at the time. Of the 100 people who took it with me they only asked 2 to stay. My guess is that you needed at least 45 of the 50 to move on. The first 10 questions were the killers (literature and mythology). I think I probably got 38 or 39 of the last 40 right (not real difficult). So they probably tossed your sheet as soon as you missed 5 or 6 and moved on to the next one.

I did too, but they said I was too old. I think I missed a lot of the music questions.

My wife keeps yelling the answers at the TV, but they can't hear her as well as I can. Lucky kids.

    Re: Jeopardy College Tournament

I have taken the online test three times and got called to the next round of texting in Kansas City the first two times (most recent online test was earlier this year - haven't heard anything yet). There, I got to take a written 50 question test that was general knowledge. They had too much literature stuff (for my limited literature knowledge) and I didn't qualify any further. They never tell you exactly how many correct answers you need to have, but you can't miss a whole lot. But at least both times I went in person, we got to play a sample game of Jeopardy! in front of the contestant coordinators with the buzzers and everything. They do that so they can see how you would be on the actual show. So, even if I never get selected, I can say I came close to making the actual contestant pool. ISU3ptland is an actual Jeopardy! champion, though. He won a game in 2006 and got to make a 2nd appearance (which didn't turn out nearly as well). If anyone has tried the online testing, don't give up! He tried out twice without hearing anything and made it all the way on the third try. Not everyone gets to be on a game show and even fewer people get to actually WIN something. Pretty cool stuff!

All people who make sweepingly generalized, stupid, uninformed comments are idiots.

    (maybe)

Kirk Daddow. Yes, football coach when I was on the team as SR. Coached Hoiberg. He was Sophomore at the time

and he did well. Got second I believe. Knew the final jeopardy answer, but did not bet enough to take it. Rice-a-Roni for runner up?

My roommate dominated Teacher's Jeopardy until he missed both of the final questions on the 2 day final. Apparently all you have to do is lie on your bed, watch TV, listen to music, and not care when people are robbing our house all to be pretty good at Jeopardy.
