    Era of Sports You wish You could have witnessed.

    Another one of my boredom threads but, I believe this could be an interesting discussion.

    I wish I would have been able to witness was the late 40's and the 50's. I would have loved to see the breaking of the color barrier in baseball and I would have loved to see boxing as one of America's major sports.

    Whenever I watch a baseball game with my grandpa, he talks about the players he was able to see on tv and hear about on the radio. He was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan and he talks about Koufax, Campanella, and Robinson. He also is a huge fan of Willie Mays. Just hearing about it makes me wish I was able to see it.

    NASCAR when some of the greats were at their best. Dale Sr., Waltrip, Allison brothers, Yarborough.

    Agreed. I would have loved to see some of the greats from the late 20s to early 40's.

    My short list is more team specific

    1. The Lombardi Era in Green Bay
    2. The Yankees when they had Ruth and Gehrig
    3. UCLA's basketball dynasty in the 60's & 70's under Wooden
    4. ISU football under Earle Bruce in the late 70's
    5. Johnny Orr's teams in the mid to late 80's

    I was alive, but I wish I was a little older so I could remember the late 90's and early 2000's for cyclone sports as I was only about 9 or 10 at that time. The first years I really remember well are around 2004/2005.

    My first sports memories are of those great Orr teams from the 90's. I really wish I could have seen Barry Stevens play or been in Hilton for Hercle Ivy dropping 54 on Iowa.

    The thought of walking up to the ticket office on the day of Super Bowl 1, or 2 and buying a ticket for probably 5-10 bucks seems like a win for me.
