    The Office Finale

The final episode of The Office will air Thursday night. This show was so good for the first 5 seasons. I feel it should of ended when Michael Scott left at the end of season 7, although the last half of this season has been pretty good.

    Re: The Office Finale

The last couple of years have not been great for The Office's reputation, but 10 years from now it will deservedly be recognized as the best sitcom of its era. Any show would start showing some wear after that long on the air. That being said, I wish they had thought through a post-Steve Carrell direction that wasn't just "slap our next biggest 'movie star' in the boss slot and hope for the best".

Last couple episodes have been great. Loved Jim's whole make Dwight the A.A.R.M. idea.

Completely this. People say it shouldve ended when Carrell left, and i actually disagree. They'd run out of material for him (i was ready for him to go) and they had a lot of potential for the rest of the ensemble cast once he was out of there (really seeing that the last few episodes with this arc of dwight taking over).

They completely wasted James Spader. And anything to do with sabre, bates, gabe, etc, was annoying.

oh god, I absolutely hate Gabe. Spader was great. I actually am not a huge Ed Helms fan, but I still enjoy the show. Looking forward to tomorrow.

    Arrested Development vehemently disagrees.

Fantastic show, had some rough spots after Michael left, but also had some good episodes. Definitely think its time for it to end but will live on forever through reruns.

There's "Seinfeld" and then there's everything else.

Love the OP's homage to 'Prison Mike' though. One of the great moments of the show.

You don't get to be called the best of any era with only 3 seasons.

I LOVE Arrested Development, but it doesn't even come close. It is very funny, but it was not funnier than The Office, not as long lived as The Office, and The Office had a much, much better storyline.

I think the problem with it was about one thing: characters. The beginning of it was awesome. Michael is an elite character, Jim is a great character, Pam works well with him and that storyline is elite. Dwight is a great character.

Then they introduce the 2nd wave of people once they realize the show is getting picked up for more shows. Darrel, Andy, Karen, and bigger focus on Angela, Merideth, Kevin, Creed, and Oscar were all slam dunks.

After that, there is flop after flop after flop of introducing new people. Gabe, Jo Bennet, Charles, I never liked Erin (although some do somehow?), Nellie, Robert California, and Will Ferrell (who I love, but it wasn't all that great of a cameo). Anything with Sabre was terrible. Then they made Andy boss which ruined him.

Worst of all they forgot how to write Pam and turned her into a selfish b**** and took away any charm or back and forth she had with Jim, which completely killed a huge chunk of the whole show dynamic.

Anyway, that's my two cents. I still think as an overall show it is amazing, but they messed up a ton of stuff and drove it down to an average show for two seasons or so. That is what happens when the network doesn't give you a timeline for an ending and strings the show along so it can be a cash cow.

    4. And sure you do. Quality > quantity.

The Office had at LEAST 5 season of greater average quality than AD. It didn't go downhill till season 6 at the earliest.

The first few seasons of The Office were pretty good (even through they were mirror images of a series that was already made), but better than AD??? That's crazy talk.

    Re: The Office Finale

Actually, the first few seasons weren't even close to mirrors of the original.

I think the office stayed really good until about season 5. The last few seasons have been hit or miss (there have actually been some good ones in there) and I've found the episodes sitting longer and longer on the DVR each week.

However, probably the last 10 or so episodes this year have been really good. Nice to see the show go out on top.
