    Fred White passed away

RIP Mr. White. Enjoyed listening to you & Denny Mathews call the Royals' games for so long.

    Re: Fred White passed away

My grandparents lived in KC and shared Royals season tickets while I was growing up. I was a huge Royals fan. Growing up in Marshalltown, I would try to listen to Royals games before bed. My parents would give me grief for listening to static all night as I would have foil wrapped around the antenna to barely listen to Fred and Denny from the tiny Dowling radio station that carried the games. I grew up listening to Fred, Denny and static. I was really excited when the "Royals guy" would announce Iowa State basketball games, too.

Fred White was great. The team of Fred and Jon Sunvold was very good during Big 8 times. MBB: Iowa State vs. Nebraska (1996) - YouTube

Me too. I really enjoyed listening to those guys.

Others I loved: Herb Carneal, Halsey Hall and Ray Scott

Growing up in Denver back in the day when you didn't see every game on TV Bob Martin and Larry Zimmer doing Broncos games brings back a lot of memories too.
