    Season Tickets Going Fast

New release from the ATH Dept about season tickets:

Iowa State University announced today that it fully anticipates exceeding last year’s record setting season football ticket sales of 40,547 and also expects to continue to have more than 50,000 fans attend home games which currently stands at 13 straight games.

“As of this morning we have sold-out of season tickets in the end-zone and only have a few scattered single tickets left in the non-donor cardinal ($225) and gold ($175) sections," said Justin Thompson, Director of Ticket Sales. “At this point we only have a limited supply of full-price donor tickets ($375) and hillside ($125) tickets available”.

A limited supply of season tickets located in the donor reserved ($375) or hillside ($125) areas are still available and fans are encouraged to purchase as soon as possible to guarantee themselves a ticket for this year’s football season. Season tickets in these areas, as well as the limited single seats in the non-donor sections, will be available for purchase online at cyclones.com, by phone at 888-478-2925, or in person at the Iowa State Athletics Ticket Office beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday morning.

“When I was named head coach of our football program four years ago I encouraged fans to purchase their season tickets because I expected a time when purchasing a single game ticket in Jack Trice Stadium was going to be impossible”, said head football coach Paul Rhoads. “That time is very near and I could not be more proud of our fans.”

Iowa State University has had more than 50,000 fans in attendance at every football game during the past two seasons and anticipates reaching a complete sellout (56,800) for its first three home games this year versus Northern Iowa, Iowa and Texas.

If the team has success I wonder how many times we could hit that 56,800 mark next season.

    Re: Season Tickets Going Fast

I think we can pass the 56,800 most any time we want to do so. You have to think that there will be enough demand for the UNI, Iowa, and Texas games. It is just a matter of picking how many tickets we want to sell and which games we want to be at the top of the list. That is pretty much what happened for the K-State game last year.

Imagine what we can do if we win MORE than six games.

Okay, I'll be the first to say it. SEZ!

We have what, like 46k physical seats? Or is it even less now with the new suites? Either way, that means we have sold at least 4k standing room only tickets per game for the last two years, and intend to do the same this year. With three sellouts to start the season, that would be over 10k standing room tickets per game for the first three games with no way of knowing how much we could have sold if additional capacity was available. And yes, we have done this playing .500 football with some lackluster bowl showings. What the heck happens if we go 9-3 and win a nice bowl game? Pretty soon, we could be stuck leaving a lot of extra money on the table.

I won't answer for him, but I will say that I have mixed feelings. A new SEZ will probably also be related to a huge increase in ticket prices and maybe even making it a donor section. We have had a good run, but the progress of the program will eventually squeeze out the incredible deal that we have now.

You said it yourself, that is progress. Therefore, natural progress is to upgrade both on your end and the ADs.

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

I understand it as the reasonable progression of the program, but that doesn't mean that I can start throwing around big donations. Cyclone Nation is growing and can afford it, but not me. I've been able to add tickets over the years, especially at end zone prices, but I will probably have to buy fewer tickets in order to make the donation (if and when it happens).

When will individual tickets be for sale? Will season ticket holders get first dibs?
