    ISU- Illinois football series?

Sorry there's no link for this (I'm on my phone.) But I did find it interesting, albeit speculative. In the Register's story about the Big Ten meetings, they had a piece about teams moving away from FCS schools to strengthen their schedules. When asked about the possibility of a series with ISU, Illinois AD Mike Thomas said "That would be someone who would make a lot of sense for us, but we're just kind of starting that process." He also says he hasn't contacted anyone at Iowa State, but he does consider ISU an "attractive option." "There's a lot of good football teams in the Midwest. You shouldn't' have to travel too far to find a competitive non- Big Ten team."

Would make sense for them, not us. We already play a big 10 noncon game so we definitely wouldn't do two.

It's rare, but it has happened before. We played at Wisconsin in '93 and at Minnesota a couple of times, the last time in 1997.

should consider dropping Iowa and picking up ILL, just to strengthen the schedule up a bit.

I'd love to see it, but like mentioned, if we are playing Iowa and 9 conference games, I would doubt it gets done.

Would be fun to do down the road. Heck, with all the money football makes, maybe someday we'll have 13 home games and it'll be easier.

Let's indulge for a second. The first year we could play Illinois at Soldier Field or the Edward Jones Dome. The second year we could play them in KC.

I have been seeing some of the speculation too. I dont know about anyone else, but I would be ok with not playing Iowa every year and switching that up with an Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin.

Illinois is bad enough right now, that I'd consider an Illinois/Tulsa swap to actually be an easier schedule.

This isn't a crazy idea. Play the ISU/Iowa game every other year, and let each school play someone else from the respective conference in the off year. We'd play a different Big 10 school every other year, and they'd play a different Big 12 school.

You keep the series alive (might even make it crazier if you're playing for two years worth of bragging rights) but throw some flavor into the scheduling.

would be nice if the SEC, Big12, B1G, Pac12, and ACC agreed to only play each other for non-conference games (9 conf and 3 non-conf). then you can have more regional match ups since the conferences have become more spread out. you could see ISU playing Minn, Wisky, ILL, NW, Colorado, ect.

Games like this would be a good reason to go Home-someone else-away-someone else with iowa. Either we could schedule a guaranteed home game, which we need more of (6 is too few) or we could schedule home and homes with the likes of illinois, minnesota (id prefer them over illinois), etc.

I would LOVE a home and home with both Minnesota and Wisconsin.

I really want an excuse to go to each venue (I'll get my chance for Minny when the Vikes play there), and I live as far from Minneapolis and Madison as I do from Ames.

I'd rather play Illinois and keep Iowa on the schedule also.

Agreed, I fail to see why we can't do both. As Al mentioned earlier, it's not like Illinois or Minnesota makes the schedule more difficult than Tulsa.

I'd rather see Illinois on the schedule than Tulsa or Utah. Doubt JP or CPR would though.
