    Chili Recipes

I have to bring a soup of some sort to a staff party at school on Friday and they asked that I bring Chili. I'm looking for some good manly chili recipes that will be sure to impress.

Beans are needed. Lots of them. Blazing Saddle Chilli for the win.

Chili without beans is only suitable for chili dogs. Chili that is to be eaten from a bowl should have beans, no exceptions.

    Re: Chili Recipes

Well, if you're making chili and not some type of spicy spaghetti sauce, this is what we use.

1lb ground beef (throw in some diced onion if you aren't lazy like me)
    1 28oz can black beans
2 small cans red kidney beans
    2 28oz cans diced tomatoes
    ~32 oz tomato juice
    Few splashes of Worcestershire
Enough brown sugar to take out the acidity
    Chili powder
    Cayenne powder
    Garlic powder
    little bit of Cumin
    Salt & pepper
Either tomato paste or a mix of cornstarch and water to thicken it

Variations I've seen and liked are steak pieces instead of hamburger and actual hot peppers thrown in.

    Re: Chili Recipes

I don't have a particular recipe per se, but there are a few ingredients I like to include in my chili concoctions.

    - A beer. Not any kind in particular, just think it adds some nice flavor.

    - A habanero or 2. Probably should skip if serving to kids or pansies.

    - Corn. Mainly just like the extra texture it adds.

    - Meat other than just ground beef. Some examples are the stew meat, Italian sausage, or even chicken can be good.

    - Definitely beans. I usually go with some mix of kidney, black, & chili beans.

So basically, your chili comes out looking like it did when it went in. Thats a fine chili right there.

    Re: Chili Recipes

Mine is Italian sausage and peppers chili.

    1/2 lb ground Italian sausage
    1/2 lb sliced Italian sausage
    2 cans kidney beans
    1 can garbanzo beans
    2 cans crushed tomatoes
    2 bell peppers
    2 Anaheim peppers
    Chili powder
    Cumin
    Salt & pepper
    Tomato paste

If you can get by the disgusting greasy mess cooking the ground Italian sausage makes, it's an amazing chili variation.

    Re: Chili Recipes

If I walk down the bean aisle at any grocery store I can pick up a can of Chili beans. Chili beans couldn't exist if they weren't meant to be in Chili. Ipso facto, beans belong in chili. The defense rests.

Not to mention without a can of chili beans, how else would you avenge the "wronging" of your family?
