Amazing design...as a structural engineering, it my has my mind going crazy. Above all else, I'm just glad we aren't looking at the LA Vikings!

That was my thought as well. You never know when you are going to get snow in Minnesota. In 1991, the Twin Cities got 8 inches of snow on Halloween. So if the Twins are playing in late October and a blizzard is rolling through, they could move the game to this stadium. That would be kind of cool to see, especially in the playoffs/World Series.

Odd that no NCAA basketball/Final 4 renderings were shown. Usually that is taken into account.
I also thought that the Gophers were getting a new baseball stadium?

They were during the actual presentation. Looked like you would expect it to. Court in the center with angled seating coming down from all four sides.

Re: New VIkings stadium design unveiling

The whole point of the stadium was to make it a functioning facility for a wide variety of events. I'm guessing the baseball renderings are in the event of a rain out at one stadium that it would be easy to convert this new building for said use. I would think that if there were a baseball configuration to it, there would be a basketball one too.

As for the ETFE, it will be a unique look inside and outside the stadium. Apparently, "clear" is the new "retractable."

Overall, I'm totally stoked about the design! I'm already saving up for tickets to the inaugural game in 2016.

I thought concussions were killing football.

Great looking stadium, but this old timer still believes football is to be played in the elements

Re: New VIkings stadium design unveiling

Alright people that believe that we need an outdoor stadium. While football is meant to be played outdoors. It's less than optimal to watch it outdoors. Especially when it's -20 with a blizzard. It's built with the fans in mind and not the players.

I heard it was going to be $980 mil, but then they realized they didn't need a trophy room.
