    Google search results being redirected

Anyone else having problems with Google today? When I do a search the results fine but when I click on a specific website I keep getting redirected to a group of websites that are all part of "Participant Media" or "PGOA Media. They look like on line magazine sites. I use Norton 360 and ran a fresh scan and nothing came up. Any ideas?

I just removed a search engine from my boss's computer that looked just like a decorative google page but wasn't.

You are infected with malware and/or a virus of some kind. Try malwarebytes.

I had this. Was easy to get rid of but can't remember how. Do you have another computer to google a solution?

Ruh roh, Shaggy. You are infected. It's not an easy fix.

I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all.

Re: Google search results being redirected

I got that last year at some point and it was a major pain in the wazoo trying to get it fixed. And when I got it fixed, stuff was messed up enough that I finally just reformatted to whole computer to start over new. I hope you have better luck than I did.

Spybot and Malaware found nothing on my computer either.

If it's Virtumonde or something similar, good luck. Getting rid of that is like nailing jelly to a tree. Scans, registry edits, reboots, failures, more scans, more registry edits, etc.

Re: Google search results being redirected

Download and install Malwarebytes (sp) and spybot. Boot into safe mode with networking and run full scans. they will get the infected file(s). Then just reboot. It's always best to run antivirus in safe mode.

And wrap your computer in latex.

I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. During the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”
“Because,” says the Lord, “Sandpeople always ride single-file, to hide their numbers.”
