Cedar Point Golf Course - Boone

Has anybody ever played there? I keep seeing them on Groupon, but haven't bought one yet. I wanted to see if it was worth it or not.

It'll be worth it. It's a nice course for the average golfer. Nothing to difficult from what I can remember.

Worth it. I played it quite a bit when I lived in the area. Front 9 isn't very challenging. Back 9 much more wide open. Pretty fun too.

Nice course to play. Tale of two courses with the front 9 being traditional and the back being links. Not a ton of money and it should make the average golfer feel pretty good about their golf game.

Note: Cedar Pointe and Honey Creek are the only things worth a damn in Boone.

This. I played it last summer and I much preferred the first nine. The greens on the back nine were hard as a rock and the fairways were just dirt in a lot of places. Good price if you have the groupon, though.

Re: Cedar Point Golf Course - Boone

I played because of the groupons last year.

The front nine is well established, older course. Front 9 has lots of mature trees and some decent distance (for me) so you can get the driver out of the bag on a good % of the holes.

Back 9 is newly added withing the past probably 5-8 yrs. No trees to speak of but some water and prairie grass as hazards. Seems the back is shorter if I recall correctly but still able to get the driver out on most holes.

I think its worth the $$, just make sure you can use the groupon on the weekends etc. Or if you are close by you can get 18 in after a short day at work.

One thing is to check to see when league nights are and avoid the womens night anyway. They play slow as hell and it will kill you on a week night.

More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...”

Briggs-Woods in Webster City is pretty good for this. If you can hit it ~300 and relatively straight you can put up a hell of a score on that course....at least on the front 9. The back you better be able to hit it straight.

Cedar Pointe I felt like you had to be able to shape on the front 9 to be able to use it often because of the overhang of trees. Obviously the back 9 is a grip it and rip it but the front 9 required some shaping.

Honey Creek your driver will get you in more trouble than it's worth on a bunch of the holes.

    Coldwater is a driver course.

    Veenker is a driver course.

Homewood replace your driver with a wedge.

Ames Golf & CC you better be able to hit your driver straight or you're royally screwed.

Indian Creek you need to play approach golf because of the hills into each green.

Kinda confused by this, what do you mean by driver course? At Veenker you can keep your driver in the bag all day and be better off.
