is there a worse quote than "i'll always be a cyclone?"

has that ever been stated after good news?

its right up there with "doing it the right way."

Fran and Kirk are recruiting in state and making it happen in IC. Excitement is mounting and enthusiasm is abundant as evidenced by Hok posters.

So, CW isn't even mentioning any other candidates. Hmmmm. They must just be figuring out how to make it work. Or picking the most opportune time for him to leave KU with the most disruption and negative impact on them. Maybe Doc will bring a KU recruit with him.

Still think Doc want to go straight to a head coaching job and not be an assistant as long as payoff money flows from Nebby until 2016.

You know, your post did get me thinking. I know that a lot of knowledge from program to program is known, but think of the gems that Doc would know about KU? I.e. how they run practices, how they do a variety of things, and, in general, other ways they manage their program. Obviously each program does it's own thing, but Doc would know, for instance, what they focus on when playing ISU, etc.

I don't HATE the idea of Doc; I'm just not thrilled about it. A couple of years ago, Fred needed some experience on the bench. Now I feel like he just needs recruiters.

Re: Monday Musings: Replacing T.J. Otzelberger

I'd be down with this move if it works out - and all signs seem to be pointing that direction. I have to agree with Chris that if we can get into Texas and Chicago, that would be huge. It's GOT to be easier to recruit to ISU that it was at Nebby, and Lord knows we need some defensive fundamentals added and polished.

I guess that depends on if you consider players using up their eligibility and graduating as good news or bad news.

Even if there is no substantive advantage, the concept of going to KU and taking someone just because we want them feels good!

Love TJ and hate to see him go, but I think it is a stretch to call him one of the "top future head coaching prospects in all of college basketball."

It was the spring of 2006 that GMac took over instead of 2005. ISU actually went to the NCCA tournament in 2005 and advanced to the second round.

Agreed. TJ is great, but to call him that is a bit of hyperbole. I mean, the guy wasn't (to our knowledge) even interviewed for the Drake job...
