The Cyclone Family lost a great one this past week

Iowa State lost a great cyclone last week. My father was a graduate in 1979 with a degree in electrical engineering and it took him many great places. He was at the last Iowa State home game in the old stadium as a High School senior and the first one at Jack Trice as a college freshman. He told me many great stories about ISU and he was pretty much reason #1 I even thought about coming here.

He battled colon cancer for almost 10 years and almost 200 chemo treatments before it was finally just too much for him. The doctors originally had given him just 6 months. He could never visit me while at school out here in Ames and he always said he wanted to see me walk across that stage in Hilton before he went. He never missed a game on TV and he was cremated in an Iowa State shirt and will always be a "Loyal son forever true"

Very sorry to hear of the loss of your father. He sounds like an amazing and determined fighter as well as a Clone to the bone!

    - I struggle finding the right words to express my sympathy at times like these. But I sincerely hope that you and your family feels lifted up by the memories of good times, your friends, and the greater Cyclone community.

Sorry man! I am at the age where I have lost most of my older relatives. Take comfort in the fact that the memories of those gone on stay with you forever. They are never truly gone and live with you in spirit. I am not a loyal son but feel Jack Trice every time I enter the stadium.

I was at both events also, they were great experiences and I understand your dad's passion for ISU. I'm sure he is proud of his legacy. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. Your dad is a great example of how Iowa State can just grab ahold of you and never let go! Way too young as I'm sure you know. Just glad you had the time that he fought for.
