Anyone hitting some good shows over the summer?

Any Fanatics hitting any music festivals or good concerts over the summer? I ask cause at festivals people are always so excited to see a fellow Cyclone (they see from my bag or shirt) and I always make some Iowa State friends. I went to Bonnaroo in 2011 and have been obsessed with festivals since. After bonnaroo I broadened my music tastes a ton and became OBSESSED with the killers. I told all my friends I went to boonaroo with I wanted to hit a festival with them headlining. So by the weirdest luck ever a new festival called firefly pops up in Delaware (I'm from MD so it's only like 90 mins from home) with the killers, jack white, and the black keys headlining and like 40 other amazing bands. Me and like 10 friends went and had one of the best weekends of my life. So we are all going back this year (44 days but who's counting) with TOM PETTY and the red hot chili peppers as the main headliners but there are a ton other very popular bands if you want to look at the line up ( fireflyfestival.com ). I saw Tom back in like 2006 but he's a legend to me now, my excitement grows by the day. If anyone hasn't been to a festival I strongly reccomend you do, it's dirty and hot but if your into concerts alot it's the way to go. I saw Jack White (the white stripes), The Killers, Black Keys, Cake, Flaming Lips, Girltalk, the list can go on and on for both the festivals I went to. Both for under 400 bucks. I was able to get about 30 yards from any act I wanted to; just those first three acts would have cost up to 500 a piece to get as close as I was, if they were playing alone in a big arena. I was given tickets to see Coldplay and Jay-z on new years at Barclays center from a friend that works at a big radio station (he is who I goto a lot if this stuff with and who got me into them), the tickets had a face value of 700 bucks!!!! That's insane!

If anyone hasn't seen the killers, I strongly recommend you do. Even if your not a huge fan of their music (you will be afterward) the show they put on its crazy to say the least. Since I saw them at firefly, I saw them in DC during winter break and I'm going to see them aug. 3rd outside of KC at Cricket Wireless Amplitheater. They are also headlining lollapalooza then going to St. Paul before going to KC so if your in the St. Paul area hit it up, I was considering going to both and making a trip of it but I think firefly might set me back enough as it is. Plus people gotta work!

Saw Zac Brown weekend before last here in Dallas, saw them again at Red Rocks in Denver last night, seeing Dave Matthews Band here May 18, seeing Pearl Jam in Wrigley Field in June, and I've got pit tickets for Zac Brown again at the Gorge in September!

Re: Anyone hitting some good shows over the summer?

I would like to see kid rock and Pearl Jam! I'm not much of a country guy but Zach Brown would probably be a good time, certainly will be some hot chicks. My girlfriend and I went to Dave Mathews last summer and besides there being hot chicks and hot moms it was a snore! To be fair I've only liked one of his songs ever (wasting time) and he didnt even play it!! I would say the best part of the show was the solos the sax player went on. Maybe it was just my attitude toward the whole thing but hope you enjoy it. You would be surprised how many people win tickets off the radio and never pick them up. With my buddy being the promotions guy at a big station he throws me tickets people don't pick up and I sell the extras I don't use and split the money with him haha with Dave Mathews I got like 7 tickets haha

I'll be going to Lollapalooza this year. The Killers are one of the headliners, but they will be playing at the same time as Nine Inch Nails. I like them both so it will be a tough choice on who to see.

Wish 80/35 had more bands I listened too, I probably won't be going to that this year.

Man that's a terrible delema!!!! If I were you I would hit the killers, I promise you will not retreat. Have fun at that man, I think I may go next year, my last year living in the midwest.....but I'm hesitant cause I'm afraid it won't have the same secluded feel that other festivals have since its in the middle of Chi-town. Have you been before? If so do you gave any other weekend long camping festivals to compare it too like Roo or Coachella?

I've been a DMB fan since moving to Richmond, VA in the mid90's after leaving Ames. They would play in Richmond all the time as they were coming up. Got lifted with them a couple times too, and they're good guys. One thing about DMB is that they're a concert band, and radio airplay is only a means to an end. This is like the Dead used to be as well as Phish; who's studio stuff is rough to listen to. DMB is about the instruments rather than the vocals, which is kind of refreshing compared to a lot of auto-tuned crap out there. We go to 2-3 DMB shows each year around the country. I get what you're saying, but that's why there's multiple radio channels I guess.

would you go see them at wolftrap and merriwheather?? I'm from that area!! Wolftrap is probably the best outdoor venue on the east coast, LOVE that place only big downfall about it is the D.C yuppies that's their hangout on weekends in the summer haha. I saw counting crows there last summer (another free show haha)

Never did see them at Wolftrap. Saw them in RFK, and then several shows in Richmond, Virginia Beach, and Charlottesville while we lived there. I'd love to see them at Wolftrap sometime though. Saw them play in Wrigley last year which was awesome, and I saw them at the Red Rocks several years back. But you've inspired me and I'm looking into some new east coast venue shows now!

I haven't been much of a concert goer for several years, but Pearl Jam at Wrigley (favorite at favorite ball park) brought me out of retirement.

Getting to be down on the Wrigley Field (fan club tickets FTW) and seeing a Pearl Jam show is about as good as it gets.
