In the 2010 accident against the DeJoode family. This one hits home for the Cyclone and CF family.

Unbelievable. But I guess that's the law. Doesn't mean its right though.

Unbelievable. Mental capacity should not be a defense to a crime.

So he just gets to go home? He doesn't have to check into a mental hospital or anything?

Why'd this jagoff continue to be allowed to get a license if he had a history of seizures.

    Re: Charges against Dalasta dropped

I feel like this guy had the surgery knowing damn well that it could permanently disable him and be used as an excuse to not be able to stand trial. In other words, it was either sit in prison for some time, or sit in his parents house mentally disabled. While he deserves prison, at least he will never get a drivers license again and hopefully is not a danger to society anymore.

So if you ever commit a crime in Iowa. Just act like you don't know what is up and you get to go home. Nice. This law needs changed. Fast

Travesty. This guy has to live with himself, but that is hardly fair.

Unbelievable. Here's a link to the KCCI coverage. Mrs. DeJoode read her Victim Impact Statement to them since it appears she won't have a chance to read it in court.

Seems fair. It's not like he killed anybody or anything

If your mental capacity, or lack thereof, causes you to do things to hurt other people, then you need to be put somewhere where you are not a threat to other people.
