Hey Chris - I thought Edwin Arceo received a scholarship this year?

It's great to see the young, depth at big positions; QB, WR, LB, OL. I, along with most Cyclone fans I'm sure, have high hopes for these first CPR classes.

Let's keep the early momentum going in 2014!

You guys could be right on Edwin. If that is the case, I don't think that a release has been issued. I have a few calls out though and will let you know.

Only source outside CF I could find (4/17/2013):

“I knew I was starting to get in trouble when I was missing the extra points. I knew I was at the point to where it was either I had to pick up my game, or that was probably going to be it for me,” said Arceo, who earned a scholarship this year based off of his 2012 performance.

Chris. I believe that CPR stated (during signing day comments) that Kamari Cotton-Moya was coming in as a safety. Interestingly, Kamari Cotton-Moya recently played in an all-star game (in California) and was selected as Offensive Player of the Game. He ran a kick-off back for a TD and caught 6 passes for 114 yards and 2 TDs.

Re: BLOG: 2014 recruiting class projections (by position)

While a lot of these young players for ISU haven't seen the field yet for the Cyclones one can't help but notice the difference in recruiting for ISU. The days where ISU had a guy starting on the DL that was 6'2" 242 lbs as a senior are over. Now we have freshman and redshirt freshman linebackers that are 6'1" 241 lbs, 6'2" 242 lbs, 6'2" 231 lbs. Now we have freshman and redshirt freshman on the defensive line that are 6'5" 277 lbs, 6'4" 253 lbs, 6'4" 274 lbs.

Instead of playing undersized players for 3 years and in some cases (like Tyson Smith back in the day) 4 years now you have guys in the program that have come in with enough size and athleticism that they can play right away if necessary and they won't be at a dramatic physical disadvantage. Rather then kids coming in and spending their first 2 years and in some cases 3 years trying to get "big" enough to play in the Big XII you have freshman coming in that have the size already and more time can be spent in their on field development rather then their physical development.

This is a change that should yield some pretty impressive results in the coming years for the program.

    Very nice post.

If you want to see exactly why most people don't think we're going to have a big season this Fall, just take a look at the football schedule poster. Counting both sides of the trench, there are exactly two big guys pictured there--with tight end Ernst Brun the next most imposing.

I'm not saying when CPR's recruiting efforts are going to start paying off in full, because he's only really hit his stride the last couple of years. But I have no doubt that those efforts will pay off--and more people are going to be shocked than just Oklahoma State!

Is it really necessary to say...GO CYCLONES!

Yes, we knew that. Watched it come from CPR's own lips at the start of Spring practice...

Not trying to be a smart aleck, but from the Spring prospectus:
Rhoads on specialists: ‘”The specialist positions are in good hands. Kirby Van Der Kamp is expected to be a contender for th Ray Guy Award. Edwin Arceo and Cole Netten will renew their competition this spring. Arceo was awarded a scholarship after a strong 2012 season.

    Great to hear.
I thought KCM's HS highlight video from last season was very good and joked the coaches may want to reconsider which side of the ball he plays on.
