    ISU Memories

In honor of all our soon to be graduates this weekend - tell us about your favorite ISU memory(ies)!

If you didn't attend ISU, tell us your favorite college/high school memory and then we'll all tell you how ISU would have been superior

I have waaaaay too many but -

    - getting engaged
    - every time spent hanging out in the Reading Room
    - every judging trip and contest
    - National contest with the best teammates ever
    - long days spent selling ice cream for VEISHEA
    - every club trip
    - every memory with my best friend
    - UK travel course with best friends

but as far as an actual story......probably the 18 hour drive back from Harrisburg, PA after a judging contest. Somewhere between the IL border and Des Moines things just got loopy. Everything was funny. We took all these stupid pictures and just laughed for hours. We were so sleep-deprived and suffering from cabin fever, but it was so much fun. That and senior year VEISHEA when best friend and I got quite drunk!

Losing my V-card the same day ISU beat Iowa in 2007! Best 10 seconds ever!

In all honesty, there is way too many to list on CF. Some times the best nights were just drinking with a small group of your bros and the random nights.

    Re: ISU Memories

After 10 years of school at ISU, finally being hooded at the PhD ceremony while wearing ISU full regalia cannot be beat. It was my favorite memory at ISU.

Favorite sports memory was in 1992 when I was at the ISU vs Okie State basketball game at Hilton when I was a young Clone. It was the greatest basketball game I have ever seen in person and all other experiences compare to that game.

I'm sure this game is going to get brought up a lot...but this is my all time favorite memory as well.

Sitting second row of the student section, being one of the first people to storm the field, not leaving the field for the next hour, crying, laughing, screaming...truly a memory I will never forget!

I was already graduated but we were home for Thanksgiving watching at my house. I couldn't sit down, pacing like crazy, and praising baby Jesus every couple minutes. I can't even imagine how awesome the atmosphere was to be there. When the camera started shaking from the crowd, it gave me goosebumps!

Don't lie, you were rooting for the team that had a mascot that was a cowboy

    Re: ISU Memories

I have TONS as well...but a fun one about a friend of mine that may make other fanatics smile. Ennis Haywood and I were good friends. One day we met for lunch over the summer at Bbops out on Duff. He was dropped off and when it was time to leave, he asked if I could give him a ride back to his place. No problem...except I rode my 400cc little motorcycle (i'm pretty tall, he was over 2 bills too). He said, "no problem." Imagine me and him straining that bike from Bbops all the way to West Ames. We got MANY odd looks, but he was grinning ear to ear the whole time. When we pulled up to his apartment, Darrin Davis was up on their balcony and dying laughing as he saw us pull up and snapped a photo. I still cherish that photo as it is a great memory and just funny. :)

    -VEISHEA '06 and '07
    -Weekends during big football games.
-Every single Tailgate. (Especially the Colorado/tornado game and vs Iowa in '05)
-Being at any huge win in Bball or football.
-Grilling, drinking and hanging out with all my friends during a nice warm weekend, with no worries in your life at all. No studying, no bills, just living the college life.

1994ish....Playing kick the can at 2 in the morning with a bunch of hotties and few other dudes. The campanile was the base with the can. A few more memories from that night that I can't mention on here.

I for one am glad I didn't meet my wife while attending ISU. We both were there at the same time but met after graduating while in Des Moines.

    Re: ISU Memories

Meeting my wife was probably one of the best memories. There are so many other good times with friends, it's really hard to nail down just one. Heck, even all nighters in the design center hold a special place in my heart now.

The big "Good time" that really stands out was VEISHEA '92, at some point on Friday night, we'd made a "No Sleep til sunrise Sunday" pact. I remember sitting on our front stoop, with Ren and Stimply on TV in the background. Just as the sun burst over the horizon, I took a last swig of beer, threw the cup int our front yard and hit the bed for a solid full day sleep. I think I ended up being sick for the next three weeks because of that weekend.
