    A Conversation With: Matt Abdelmassih

A long piece but very informative. Yesterday, I sat down with Matt to discuss program progress, the recruiting trail, Royce White's situation and more. Enjoy.

Great write up CW. Really interesting hearing his take on the Royce situation. And I'm glad that these close losses are still stinging our coaches and players. The whole program is going to come back so hungry next season.

I loved the interview, the questions and the answers. And the length. A lot of really good info.

Wasn't Matt the recruiter for Nader? Why not ask at last 1 question about him?

Because Nader hasn't signed with Iowa State yet. Coaches cannot talk about unsigned prospects per NCAA rules.

Great article Chris! I like the part at the end where he said he thought NBA team could be successful in Iowa. Let's get it done.

    I agree with Matt. If you're an ISU fan and don't <3 Royce, you're a *******.

This was excellent. One of CWs best. Really came away thinking I knew Matt better, what he does better, and that's good insight on Royce and his situation. Matt took a really balanced look there. Good stuff.

Re: A Conversation With: Matt Abdelmassih

It's great to hear from somebody who actually KNOWS Royce talk about him rather than the idiots on ESPN and elsewhere. I think we all agree that Royce's "cause" is admirable, but he's approaching it in reverse order (take your place on the stage THEN talk about it). Nice to hear Matt continue to talk well of him. Both are great guys who deserve good things.

Remember, you're unique. Just like everyone else.

Until further notice, the Big 12 tournament is best. There's an experience here. Not just the teams -- the feel, the vibe, the establishments. Iowa State not only won the pregame -- filling the nearby Power & Light District -- it won the whole damn scene.

Nice. I think we are very fortunate to have quality guys like Matt, Cornell and T.J. on staff. They have done ISU very well.

I almost skipped this because I figured it would just be the usual coach-type questions and answers. Glad I didn't, very good interview.

Very happy to read all of your positive responses but this one specifically. That is the goal of interview pieces like this - for you all to get to know these people better. I plan on doing more with different newsmakers over the next few months.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone.
