Re: Andy Katz's Too Early Top 25

Idk why so many think it's so crazy the Hawks could be in the top 25 next year. They return basically their entire team and add a pair of pretty good players. Both are wildcards at this point because they haven't proven anything on the college level yet but they should he pretty talented. Throw in the fact that fran is a pretty good coach and you get a top 25 team. As much as it sucks to say this, I think Iowa is going to beat us again next year.

Because the team they're returning is mediocre.

Well they pressed out guards this year and absolutely killed us in that fact. We have an extremely young backcourt coming in if you forgot. I understand they are some good players coming in but hell Kentucky lost at home with some pretty damn good players this year to Baylor.

Like I said as much as I hate to say it, I believe it will happen. Iowa will be a much better team next year regardless of what a lot of us ISU fans want to think. People talk about the jump that Niang is going to make going into his sophmore year, well Iowa will have some players that are going to make the same kind of jump.

Look, could they POSSIBLY be a better team than us next year? Possibly. But you are forgetting how big home court advantage is in college basketball, exspecially in a place with "magic" If teams like KSU, OSU, Baylor (who we beat twice, and they wiped the floor with Iowa) couldn't win at Hilton, how is Iowa going to?

I think Woodbury is going to make a big jump. The guy can play defense...he needs to add some weight and he could be a damn good player. The player I think will make the biggest jump is Marble. He is pretty good at getting to the lane right now and I believe most of his summer will consist of getting a jump shot down. They have a lot of returning players and the light could go on for any of them and could drastically improve their team overall.

Re: Andy Katz's Too Early Top 25

I won't be shocked if Iowa is a top 25 team some point next year next year. I think Fran is a good coach and they started 3 freshman and a sophomore. You would have to take the assumption that they will improve and the B1G will probably be a little weaker next year. Their expectations should be being a 8-10 seed in the tourney.

Yes I completely understand that the game is in Hilton, but so does a veteran Iowa team. They will have the confidence that they can beat us based on the fact they got us last year. Who knows, maybe our newcomers will come in and surprise me, but the fact is that they have guys that have been in Frans system for awhile now and all of them have been to some pretty tough environments before.

Re: Andy Katz's Too Early Top 25

If Marble is consistent, they could have a very nice year. He's never been consistent. They will be a bubble team meaning 9-12 seed much like ISU has been the past two seasons.

If I see Aaron White pick off a pass on ball rotation, or our guards freak out because Josh Oglesby is pressuring them, I'm going to puke. We played right into their hand last season because KL still thought he was Chris Paul. I really hope Morris is ready to play right away.

I don't bring my own opinions, just attack others.

Players don't generally make big jumps between their junior and senior years unless there's a change made in regards to coaching or playing style. You could say the last part about almost any team in the nation.
