As fas as what type, the wife would want a pontoon. I'd probably wnt something with a little more juice. In reality the best choice would probably be a pontoon that can pull a jet ski.
This isn't enough juice for you?

I would never own a boat. Luckily for me my old man does along with a condo on East Okoboji. I have it rough.

    Re: Boat questions

Rent the boat, almost often a better option!

Pool, go for it, just put one in last year (above ground, buried in ground with a 7' deepen end).

Several kids spent the afternoon in it today as it was up to 80!

It just seems like you can rent a REALLY nice pontoon a LOT of days to equal the price of paying for one.

    Re: Boat questions

I usually boat on the Missouri. During the flood I called around for other options. Seem to remember Saylorville having an option they called valet service. They keep the boat on the trailer in covered storage. When you want it you call them and they put it on the lake for you. When you are done you call them and they will take it off the lake and back into storage. Lot cheaper then doing a slip.

If one morning I walked on top of the water across the Potomac River, the headline that afternoon would read: "President Can't Swim."

Yes, I would call the marina or Brightwells and see what they would charge. I would just go ahead and get the trailer anyway. You'd regret not having it if you ever went to sell and it's a very low % of the overall purchase price.

The Saylorville marina does have a launch/retrieve service for a fee. No, you can't leave the boat in year round. You'll need to take it out in Fall for winterizing. They do offer storage options out there too (on land :-) ). I'm sure you could leave the trailer parked in that spot during the summer too

Watch Craiglist for slip sales from individuals. You may also see a pontoon/slip combo deal of someone needing the $$$ quick.

You know why above ground pool commercials are only 45 seconds? Thats the longest ammount of time anyone could ever imagine having fun in an above ground pool. Burrying it fools nobody.

Harley's, boats, pools, hot tubs. Each has their own list of downsides. For some of us each of them is a well needed and enjoyed waste of money. :-)
