Not sure if this is a step up/down or lateral for her. Is this a full time job with or without teaching responsibilities? Ankeny has been a WBB powerhouse for years - interesting to see if the community can support two programs and how they divide the existing talent between the schools.

    Re: New gig for Bolte?

It is well known that a majority of the current talent in Ankeny will be going to Centennial, leaving Ankeny HS as the weaker of the two programs, which is why many of the big time coaches at AHS are going to Centennial.

Ankeny will have no problem supporting two high schools. The boundaries for the schools have been in place for a few years, and Centennial has been playing at the sub-varsity level for a couple of years.

I would have to think that Kelsey will have to have another job since her coaching job would only be considered part time.

You get a pretty good idea which school has the most in the pipeline when you see which school the coaching staff decides upon. Not that there aren't exceptions where the coach is just comfortable where he/she is and doesn't change, or the District AD selects someone else over the current coach for the new school.

Most district fans worry about the talent split, but it seems more often than not, it gives more kids a chance to excel and with good coaching they do.

Wow, that is jumping right into the frying pan. Ankeny has a great feeder program for girl's sports and a long tradition so Bolte is going to have some talent in years to come. But, most of last year's state tournament team went to Centennial, thus DeJong took over that program. Also, the city of Ankeny continues to grow north so more students will be going to the new school. I am very happy for her and hope that she does well.

As it grows the diividing line will change, they are already talking about moving it farther north.
