    No More Legends Or Leaders

The Big 10 is going to be getting rid of their ridiculous division names

Big Ten Conference to realign teams, replace division names with East, West, sources say - ESPN

Wow... talk about a weak "West" division... yikes. Especially in basketball. And Iowa fans laughed at the old Big 12 North division? This might be worse.

Re: No More Legends Or Leaders

They could have saved themselves the embarrassment and just used "East" and "West" the first time around. But then again, I'm not surprised they chose "Leaders" and "Legends".

There aren't division rankings but the schedules are put together by division. I.E ISU played big 12 north schools twice and south schools once.

And maybe the Big 10 will do something like that and maybe they won't. 14 teams will make any basketball scheduling tricky regardless.

That was my first thought as well. Nowledge fans should be rejoicing.

Now that I do the math in my head 14 doesn't break out easily. Doing it this way would create a 19 game conference season which I'm not sure the schools would want. But who knows.

The west division is very Mountain West-like.

Re: No More Legends Or Leaders

I wonder if they'll schedule like this:
Iowa will play all teams in their division twice. (12 games)
And then play all but one of the teams in the opposite division once (6 games) Rotating which team they don't play year by year.
That gives you 18 conference games.

Or, just do a 19 conference game schedule and play all cross division teams once. But, not sure teams will want that unless there is a big boost in $$$ by adding another conference game.
