I always read Paul Rhoads quotes in my mind in a Paul Rhoads voice.

Re: Need to know nuggets from today's Rhoads presser

I wonder why we wouldn't give more QB reps to our #1, since he has little game day experience and there is a new offense. If we split the reps, that reduces the skills improvement where it is most needed - QB. Just my humble opinion. On the other hand, I'm afraid that SR could get hurt, since he has a smaller frame than JB/SJ.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that. The inflection and emphasis is everything. Or maybe I'm just hearing voices. Again.

IMO, I think what CPR is doing is right. We have a good, young qb and one can never predict how the season is going to go or what will happen. We can't forget that Sam hasn't been the qb for very long, he isn't the most experienced guy out there. I just believe that the back up does need a fair amount of reps as he needs to be ready at any given moment.

Re: Need to know nuggets from today's Rhoads presser

I'm fine with the reps being split as such. Sam is in his 2nd spring. He's got 3 games worth of reps under his belt, and probably got the lions share in bowl prep. This isn't his first rodeo.

Joe Montana probably could have used more reps as well, but a big part of the position is film study and deciphering defensive looks with pre snap reads. Sam proved he's got some skills, and at worst seems to be on par with any QB ISU has had recently. I'm pretty confident he can be an upgrade this year and going forward.

Well, considering that we're going to be running up the score so that Grant is playing in the 3rd/4th quarters, I'm good with him getting reps now.

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.

the tight end situation sounds disconcerting considering were supposed to be running the pistol

Take this for what it is. My opinion. And opinion from a guy who's never coached a lick of football. The only thing to me, is that our QB situations under Rhoads have been poor at best. Who's going to start, we need the backup, etc. I wouldn't mind seeing a #1 get the focus and attention for a major stretch. Yeah, we have to plan for problems, but I don't like that at the expense of much needed QB improvement.

Again, just an opinion based on the idea in my mind that our QB position seems to highly underperform year after year.

I happen to agree with you. If we are basing this off history then well, the qb situation is terrible. Give me a starter, and give him all the reps. Simple. Plenty of qbs dont split reps and can still come in if starter gets hurt i dont know why ISU is any different and ever qb on the roster every season needs equal reps. It Hasnt worked thus far at all.

Quite frankly either has telling me how good all the running backs are, and how good the offensive line is. Please just start showing me on saturday, thanks. I feel we always have really good practice players apparently on offense. If the offensive players are as good as they always say they are, and we are as deep as they always say we are on offense, then im going to have to start pointing fingers at the offensive coaches. If the RBs and Oline is that good, then why arent they running the ball a majority of the time, and doing it well???

IT also doesn't really help that a QB never gets any chance to build any confidence whatsoever, being constantly under fear of being relegated to bench duties.

No, it doesn't. Fortunately, that hasn't been the case under Paul Rhoads.

I'm with you 100%. I don't want to hear how great everyone is.... I want to see it on the field. Our offense has been a disaster since basically Seneca Wallace left. It has been particularly bad in Rhoads' seasons here. And I love Rhoads, but his offenses have been horrible.
