    Twins trade pitcher

    but not Santana.

The Official Site of Major League Baseball: News: Major League Baseball News

I like this trade. As much as I hate to lose Garza, you can't turn down Young. Plus they get a better shortstop/second baseman out of the deal.

I would have had Matt Kemp from the Dodgers but Young has the potential to be a star...

    Re: Twins trade pitcher

As a White Sox fan I am very jealous of this trade! The Twins seem to do it the right way! The Twins acquire a 22 year old OF (an area that the White Sox NEED to address) while the White Sox acquire a 33 year old SS (after giving our current strike-out king SS a $4.5 million deal). Hmmm...at this point I am just hoping the White Sox have enough to finish ahead of the Royals...and I am not so sure about that!

I like that trade. Twins will get the better end of the deal out of that I think.

    Re: Twins trade pitcher

Hate to lose Garza (he's going to be a stud one day) - but what a great deal, if even it's only Delmon Young that pans out. We needed a Torii Hunter replacement, and we found one. The guy may not be the defensive star that Hunter was, but I'll take his bat any day. Here's hoping that Liriano returns fully healthy, and our pitching depth on the farm is as deep as it traditionally is.

Absolutely, he's all but gone. Latest rumor is that the Mets would consider including Reyes in a deal.

Remember the name Jack Egbert in the next couple of years. He's a 24 year old righty that was in AA last year. Trailed just Gio Gonzalez in the organization in strikeouts and people in the organization are starting to fall in love with him.

He has five home runs allowed in his last 300 IP. 310 K in that time without overpowering stuff. He was a guy drafted out of Rutgers that apparently figured out how to pitch in the minors. He throws a 4-seam, 2-seam, curve and change. He was added to the 40-man, so he's a legit contender for the rotation.

Wow, besides him and Wright, those two are their franchise players to build around. I think Wright would be a better trade. The guys good, but its hard to find a good feilding, speedy leadoff guy. Reyes is more of a threat.

So it sounds as though they are flushing house here. They have been active for sure!

Getting Reyes would be a huge get and it would also be nice to see Santana go to the National League.

I heard a rumor that the Mets were wanting to put Beltran in the deal but I would think his contract and declining performance is not what the Twins want. Twins want young guys with affordable contracts.

Mets fan here...I think they would be crazy to trade Reyes. I think it's more likely they package speedy Carlos Gomez with some others to try and get Santana.

I'd love to get Santana, but not at the expense of Reyes. Plus, he Yanks or Sox will probably get him anyway.

    Re: Twins trade pitcher

The Mets would be crazy to trade Reyes... I would take Beltran IF the Mets pick up half his contract and that is a big IF, I never thought he was worth that kind of money anyway... As far as young prospects go the Mets really don't have much to offer... If I am the Twins I focus in on the Red Sox (Buchholz, Lester, Ellsbury, Pedroia) or the Dodgers (Kemp, Loney, LaRoche, Kuo, Hu, Billingsly, Broxton, Kershaw).

Who knows if it is true or not but here's where I saw it. I had heard Gomez as well but now that the Twins have their outfielder...and...traded their shortstop??? I get that they also got a SS in the deal, but my guess would be he'll play 2nd and Punto goes back to the utility role.

FanNation | Truth&Rumors | Will Mets give up Reyes for Santana?

And remember, these are the same Twins that got Nathan, Bonser and Liriano for AJ.

Yeah, I forgot that Young will be the OF they needed. Looks like this trade made it harder to do a deal for the Mets, unless they do go crazy and offer Reyes.
