Wow! His picture is on the front page of ESPN's Men's Basketball. I expect that will drive his off-season workouts even harder.
    Congrats Georges! Well deserved!

In the past, publicity like this may have made me nervous, for lack of living up to expectations. But with Georges, I have no doubt that he will continue to get better and be a superb player at Iowa State.

I just hope the prep school schedule he played the last couple of years negates any sophmore slump.

Ya I think given how smart and mature he is, combined with playing top competition throughout prep school, will help him out.

With that said, he'll be a focal point for defenses next year, so he'll still need our shooters to step up and make some shots to open things up.

I think Georges has a great chance to make a big leap in his game. He is all ready very skilled for a big man, and usually that is the hardest part to develop. Physically he has room to grow. Guys his age can make huge physical gains over the off season. Transformative at times, ala Fizer from his sophomore to junior season. I don't expect him to make that kind of improvement, and Georges doesn't need to. Even a little bit of added strength and explosiveness will go a long ways for him given his skill level.

Fizer was superhuman. Minus the muscularity factors however, I do think they resemble each other if not slightly.

Re: Niang listed as Breakout Star for next season

I think he will avoid the sophomore slump. He has a year in the Big 12 now, and has a high enough basketball IQ to improve on what he needs to improve on. On offense, I think we will see him improve a lot, and he will be an even bigger part of the offense next year, as the article states. I hope he learns to stay out of foul trouble. He needs to save his fouls for the 2nd half of games.

-Be kind. That is something you will never regret. You will never say to yourself when you are old "I wish I was not good to that person".

Who leads the physical development of the mbb team? I think it will be interesting to see what Geoges looks like after a year of physical development at the D-1 level.

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

Re: Niang listed as Breakout Star for next season

Keep in mind that our outside shooters created opportunities for him. Until his teammates make them pay, other teams will focus on him and he could struggle. Sophomore slumps are often a result of the opposing coaches knowing how to handle them better.

Yes, Georges will benefit greatly from the off season. He will make gains in strength/muscle, and his conditioning slowed him down at times this year, which is to be expected from a FR.

I was skeptical that Georges would be as big of an impact as he was this year. I was pleasantly surprised and see no reason he won't keep getting better and better

Some Iowa fans on that ESPN link whining because Aaron White didn't get a mention. Pathetic jealous little brothers.
