    Pre Season Game "Late Night at HIlton"

    Hey guys this is something I've wondered about. You know how Kansas has the "Late Nite at the Phog" Event? A lot of other schools do it too i know. (baylor, illinois, kentucky just to name a few) I think this would be a fun type shindig to have at Hilton next year. Charge a couple bucks to get butts in the seats or just throw it on to season tickets. Advertise to get students to show up in bunches, maybe hand out a few prizes. Fred can introduce the new recruits on the team, leaders like Ejim and Niang say a few words then let the show begin. Have a dunk contest, 3 point shooting contest, and short scrimmage of some sort so we can watch virtually everyone play. I think it would be a ton of fun. Maybe it would even give the new guys the game typer experience in Hilton before the season even starts. Anyway that was just something i thought would be really cool to have. Does the rest of CF agree or have any ideas to throw onto that? Maybe a more creative name for it too?

    I say we do something no one else in the Big 12 does. Imagine 14,000 fans doing this.

    When Fred has to essentially rebuild a team from scratch, I think he needs every practice he can get. An event like that means one less practice before your first game. If Fred is essentially bringing back an entire team (like last year, Georges was the only contributing newcomer that wasn't with the team the year before) it probably makes more sense.

    Ah that makes sense. Still thought it would be a neat thing to have someday in the future then. I do think it could be decent prep for the new guys as in it being their first time playing in a big 12 atmosphere

    Never heard of such a thing. That is really creative. Didn't think Taylor U could come up with something like that. In fact, I'm surprised that they even have that many people in the stands. At any rate, I really like the "silent until the 10th point" part.

    I think this event might be as good as 1 practice. Getting all the players a real feel of Hilton in a Cyclone uniform will only get them more amped for the season to start.

    Yes, because they really need a warmup in Hilton to play against Southeastern Grand Valley Polytechnic University. There is no atmosphere for something like this to get used to. Are you guys regular attendees of nonconference games against non-power 6 schools? It's a morgue.

    Yeah, I heard KU was going to cancel Late Night this year for the same reason.

    Yea. So we get people to show up for this even to show the kids what it will be like when michigan rolls in town. or okie state. They wont know about the KU game till game day.

    You do realize the vast majority of people aren't going to show up to watch a game that's not even happening, right? The 7,500-8,000 who show up to non-conference beat downs aren't even all going to show up because there's next to nothing to see. Will some people show up because they can? Yes. Is it worth giving up an actual practice? I'd argue no.

    Lastly, you are nuts if you think the environment will touch any conference or big non-conference game environment. The fans can't get very excited for non-conference games and now you think they're going to get really excited for a scrimmage?
