Wiseguys Restaurant to open in Campustown

Wiseguys Bar & Grill to open in Campustown in time for VEISHEA. I think it's the old Es Tas location which turned into a failed bar. I remember that bar had a sheet of paper with its name taped to a window.

The old Es Tas was far from a failed bar.

Was Es Tas the one that took over the old Minsky's Pizza place, next to West Hyvee Wine and Spirits? If so, that place was awesome. $11 for 32 oz. of Dos Equis Amber in a frozen mug and the best plate of nachos (w/ chicken) that I have ever had.

Might be different but I graduated 2010 and Es Tas was still one of the best bars IMO. Even with it on Stanton, best bartenders, good crowd, music, also great for food and sports during the day.

Re: Wiseguys Restaurant to open in Campustown

I think its great for the area to have a restaurant there. Hopefully they will make sure the quality is good and does not get over shadowed by the alcohol. I hope it does not end up like charlie yokes/headliners where they claimed they had food, but never had any to serve.

i'm showing my age but i knew one of the owners before he sold out. this was before they moved it to stanton. the food was awesome, the drinks were strong, and you didn't have to take a cab or drive drunk back to your wasteland of apartmentville in west ames. (wait what am i talking about?)

Es Tas is still the best bar in campus town I would say. I also kinda like Cy's roost when it's warm out because it's nice to chill on the patio.

I think it's south of Fighting burrito, right across from sips?

Uh, when is the last time you've been to Charlie Yokes, they have a quality size menu, and 99% of the time have it to serve.

I give wiseguys, maybe 3 months before folding up shop. It's owned by the sketchy Mood owners that intelligently have three businesses right next door to each other....
