    Thanks Rahshon

He's had an up and down career here at Iowa State and he was part of a coaching change that we all know was difficult on him. However, he's off to a great start this year (10.4 ppg, 5.0 rpg, while shooting a blistering .611 from the field) and he's making some cracks in the record books. For ISU all time records, he'll probably end up #6 in blocks, in the top 10 in steals, top 20 in rebounds, and top 20 in scoring if he can get about 200 more points this year. He'd be the only Cyclone ever to accomplish that, proving just what a good all around player he is.

Thanks for coming back and being a Cyclone Rahshon, you'll always be one of my favorites for that.

Rahshon will also always be one of my favorites right up there with Fizer and Tinsley.

He is shooting much better this season. Maybe we can try to get him more involved in the offense and get him to take more shots? We need to find ways to get points.

    Re: Thanks Rahshon

It took a lot of pride-swallowing to do what he did last year and not complain about it. So far, he's being rewarded this season.

I wondered if he'd ever get it turned around. He looked not-so-good and very frustrated in the summer league - still not able to make shots.

But he's doing it when it counts now. Seems comfortable in the system on both ends of the court.

Hopefully, the team will turn it around a bit and give him the thank you that he probably really wants - a couple of big wins.

He's a classy, classy young man.

A friend of mine took his little boy with us last summer to the summer league at Southwoods. Rahshon played in the last game of the night, hence was one of the last of the ISU players to show at the gym.

The little boy and a friend of his, were getting autographs from all the ISU players, just needing Rahshon's still. They saw Rahshon come in the doors above the bleachers (if you know how Southwoods is setup).

Both the boys were yelling to each other "it's Rahshon, it's Rahshon". Rahshon was still at the top of the steps as he hears this and sees the two 7 y/os running up the steps toward him.

He get's this playful, mouth-open, wide-eyed, fearful look on his face, starts running out the door, down the hallway at about 1/5 speed - letting the kids chase him. Finally stops after a few more pleas from the kids, signs their stuff, asks them questions (favorite team, players, do they play bball) and talks to them for a few minutes.

Now I'm not bagging on the other ISU players - but he was about the only one who did anything other than just sign the hat and go on his way.

Something he didn't have to do and meant the world to those boys. Smiles were priceless.

    Re: Thanks Rahshon

I remember you telling us that. Even if he doesn't make it to the next level (which will be an uphill battle), he'll do something special with his life. He's got the tools.

As they say, he's not dead yet. We've got basically one more full year of lucky number 13.

Very true, but he missed a couple turn around bank shot ducks when they would have mattered most.

Nevertheless, the guy looks improved and has an extra hop in his step so far this year. Hope he keeps it up.

    Re: Thanks Rahshon

Rashon is a great kid and showing signs of getting his shot back. I'll never forget the night he had against Drake two years ago. I think he scored about 30 and we pounded the Bulldogs. Hope he lights it up in the Knapp Center again cause I'd love to beat the dogs since media guys like Cotlar don't think we have a chance.

    Re: Thanks Rahshon

I loved Rahshon since his 1st game. How many times his frosh. year did he go up for a rebound dunk/ dive on the floor/ or whatever... he might have been down for a minute or two but he'd always come back. I remember the wife and I had center court parquet seats over the holiday his freshman year, and at one point during the game I told her "I have a new favorite player".

His dunk in the 1st couple minutes was badass. Well... his double bicep flex was badass. Im surprised he didnt get a T.

It might be a while til we find another player with as many highlight videos on YouTube or anywhere else.
