    X-Out Golf Balls

    I was looking at getting some Callaway HEX Black Tour X-Out balls and was wondering if anybody uses x-out golf balls and if they have ever had issues with their quality. I am looking at it as a way to try the HEX Blacks without having to pay the full price in case I don't like them.

    On a similar note does anybody have reviews of the TM Penta TP3s? I have heard good things and they are fairly cheap so might give them a try at the begining of the season.

    Sorry I can't help on the brand, but was curious if your home course allows X-Out balls? Some private clubs get all picky about it thinking you're using range balls.

    Also, I've been impressed what I've seen and heard about the new Bridgestone balls.

    My Mom had a hole in one while using an X-Out golf ball.

    I used Penta's all of last year. Loved them but evidently the new one has taken it's place and I will be using them I guess. I also played a dozen of the HEX and wasn't really impressed. It really just depend on what you want. If you want something soft I would go with the ProV1, actually but if you want something a little longer, I would go with the Penta. I just can't ever get ProVs to last.

    I had a birdie at Spyglass with a ball that was not an X-out. Draw your own conclusions.

    I don't golf anymore but years ago I bought 6 dozen Ultra Tour Balata x-outs. I thought those were outstanding golf balls.

    The x outs always seemed to slice, miss puts, top the ball, and just not get out of sand traps, weird.

    You can test used golf balls by placing them in a salt water bath. Mark the spots the balls come to a rest. Take the balls out of the bath and place them back in. If the balls come up with the mark in the same spot they are lopsided.
