    X-Out Golf Balls

I was looking at getting some Callaway HEX Black Tour X-Out balls and was wondering if anybody uses x-out golf balls and if they have ever had issues with their quality. I am looking at it as a way to try the HEX Blacks without having to pay the full price in case I don't like them.

On a similar note does anybody have reviews of the TM Penta TP3s? I have heard good things and they are fairly cheap so might give them a try at the begining of the season.

Step 1: Cut a hole in the box.

    Re: X-Out Golf Balls

Sorry I can't help on the brand, but was curious if your home course allows X-Out balls? Some private clubs get all picky about it thinking you're using range balls.

Also, I've been impressed what I've seen and heard about the new Bridgestone balls.

    Re: X-Out Golf Balls

My Mom had a hole in one while using an X-Out golf ball.

    Individual results may vary.

    Re: X-Out Golf Balls

I used Penta's all of last year. Loved them but evidently the new one has taken it's place and I will be using them I guess. I also played a dozen of the HEX and wasn't really impressed. It really just depend on what you want. If you want something soft I would go with the ProV1, actually but if you want something a little longer, I would go with the Penta. I just can't ever get ProVs to last.

    Re: X-Out Golf Balls

I used x-outs in high school. I'm not playing in the PGA now. Infer what you'd like from that . . .

I don't hit the x-outs as far out of bounds.

    Re: X-Out Golf Balls

Grew up using x outs, probably the one reason I am not in the PGA.

    Re: X-Out Golf Balls

I had a birdie at Spyglass with a ball that was not an X-out. Draw your own conclusions.

    Re: X-Out Golf Balls

I don't golf anymore but years ago I bought 6 dozen Ultra Tour Balata x-outs. I thought those were outstanding golf balls.

    Re: X-Out Golf Balls

The x outs always seemed to slice, miss puts, top the ball, and just not get out of sand traps, weird.

I have always stayed away from used golf balls. Maybe not a bad idea though for testing different balls.

You can test used golf balls by placing them in a salt water bath. Mark the spots the balls come to a rest. Take the balls out of the bath and place them back in. If the balls come up with the mark in the same spot they are lopsided.
