    Your Shining Moment

This isn't as touchy-feely as it sounds, I promise.

What is that one moment that you think back on proudly if you're having a bad day? It could be anything - winning an award, sinking a 3 to win a game, making a really funny comment during an important meeting, whatever. Just a moment that gives you a boost to think about.

Sportswise - After a rough ISU loss, I'll go to youtube and watch the overtime of the Okie State upset in 2011.

Lifewise - Multiple ways. If I need a laugh, I bust out Supertroopers or Happy Gilmore. Sentimentally, I think of my son and all the crazy/cute things he does.

I was 1st Team "All Hospitality Room" at the 1991 Big 8 Men's Basketball Tournament. Oh the good 'ol days. Crazy college kid. Wrestling around with the kids is fun also. Esp after a rough day at work. Lately, I have been watching the "Remembering Pete Taylor" videos on Youtube. Those are pretty awesome.

I just think about my son. His presence in my world makes me want to do better, and be better, and at the end of the day, no matter what else has happened, he reminds me of what is really important.

The feeling of crossing the finish line of the marathon was pretty awesome. I've done some challenging (read: stupid) things to push myself to the limit and that was probably the most rewarding.

Forgot my honorable mention. No matter how horrible of a day, my dog is crazy excited when I come home.

Also, when I passed my professional engineering exam last fall that I had to take on my birthday. Made the 3 months of studying worth it.

    This.

Of course if I got to sleep on the couch or lay in my dog bed that's more comfortable than my human's beds I'd probably be in a really good mood too.

    Re: Your Shining Moment

I've got three that I like to think of depending what it is that I'm feeling down and out about -

Singing on of my solos in a musical that I was in with DH (when I was trying to impress him). It ended on one of those high ballad notes and when I got done, there were a couple seconds of complete silence and somewhere in the crowd, I heard a lady go "wow". I actually have terrible stage fright so that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Making top ten in a judging contest. I never judged before college and getting to hear my name called a few times and beating kids with literally decades of experience was proof to me that hard work can always pay off.

Winning the top student award for my industry - and only award given to a student by a major organization in my industry. Getting to sit with some of the major leaders of my industry as they were given awards for their achievements was pretty damn neat.

And now to go start my thread which ironically, is almost the opposite of this one, lol.

I have an iPod playlist specifically crafted for easing a bad day. Full of songs that you can't help yourself from singing or at least tapping your toes. And, each song has good memories associated with it so you can't help but think about better times.

    Senior year athletics.

Being a starter on a state winning football team, state qualifying bball team, and set a school record in baseball wins was a good year.

I used to do a lot of rock climbing. One summer weekend my buddies and I went to Devil's Lake in Wisconsin. A couple of the locals were watching me and getting me to climb some of their really hard routes, and I was blowing them up. I was on top of the world.

    Re: Your Shining Moment

HS livestock judging (lame I know) I would demolish the competition at all events, except for when the official judges were on the ISU livestock judging team. They would screw it all up and choose the wrong animals and it drove me nuts. After one event where I finished like 10th, I went up to them and explained to them why they were wrong. They were all prob 20-21 yrs old and I was 17 so they were like whatever kid.

A few events later (the next time they were the judges) I won the contest and one of them said "guess we arent so crappy now huh" and I explained to them that I purposely chose them in the incorrect order because I knew they would screw it up. The next week I posted a perfect score in whatever is before state (and my school wouldnt take me to state).

    Cool story, I know.

Was that for 4H? Or do they do livestock judging as part of a different organization? I didn't know there was any except for with 4H - or maybe FFA, we didn't have FFA so I don't know what it involves.
