Pop, Hallie both AP All-American honorable mention

The WBB coaching staff has been tweeting about this, but I haven't seen any actual articles yet. Still, pretty cool to get two on the overall list!

And Coach Kim calls a presser to complain that only two Baylor players are first team selections.

Unfortunately she didn't perform at the level she showed at the end of the season all year. But wow, she really came on when it counted!

Re: Pop, Hallie both AP All-American honorable mention

It is interesting to see who is not on the list. Makes the ISU selections even more special.

As for no other Baylor players, per the above post, there are some rewards for players who impact teams who have not been national champs or made the final four.

Re: Pop, Hallie both AP All-American honorable mention

A quick tally gives the following schools with 2 or 3 players on the overall list, with ISU being one of only 10 schools:

    Baylor
    Notre Dame (3)
    UConn (3)
    Penn St
    Duke
    Ok St
    Cal
    Iowa St
    Maryland
    Nebraska

Talk about a good recruiting message!

Did I miss the U. of Iowa girls on the list or was it a misprint:). What about the highly touted ones that left the state?

Note to Iowa HS girls: Unless you want your career to be a bit part of some reknowned team away from the people who love you, you might want to consider your own backyard where there's a Div. I school that plays to top 5 crowds year-in and year-out, makes the dance regularly, and makes All-Americans out of you.

Great honors for both. And for a player like Poppens - who came very unheralded to ISU, with lots of doubters - to be a two-time honorable mention all-American - is just tremendous.
What a statement about her, and our program.

Except we needed guards, not 6'-3" forwards. She played 18 minutes a game but only averaged 4 points and a couple of boards. I don't really know her role on the Cardinal but those stats are almost identical to her freshman year. Might have been good to have had her on board for next year but really have doubts about her being a big difference maker.
