Re: BLOG: A green, but speedy front 7 in 2013

I think this was my favorite part of the article:

“When we were going through our pursuit drill I pulled Clayton Oyster, our assistant strength coach over, and I said ‘This is the first time I’ve watched this drill and thought that we had 11 guys out there that were moving like a division one defense should move,’” said Rhoads. “What we need out of those guys is a group that learns fast and picks things up fast.”

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)

When I watched the spring practice videos on Cyclones.com, the eye-test tells me that Pierre Aka is the real deal. Just by straight looking at them, the kid looks like a stud D-lineman. We'll see if looks translate to field play.

Spring/fall practices are always interesting. You see a group that does well and you wonder if that group is strong, or if the opposing group is that weak. If the DL does well during the spring, is it because the OL is weak?? Lots of questions to be answered at this point but I will agree that you have to like that quote from Rhoads about the pursuit drill.

All I know is we need to score more than 23 points a game and that will be improvement. We have languished near the last B12 place in scoring for awhile.

Nice to see some good things being said about our D-line early.
