    Hoiberg ratcheting up those wins

There really is no point for this thread other than to praise Hoiberg. So grateful he is our coach, and cannot wait for next year!

    Johnny Orr: 218-200, (1981-1994), 6 NCAA, 1 NIT
    Louis Menze: 165-153, (1929-1947), 4 Conference Titles, 1 NCAA
    Glen Anderson: 142-161, (1960-1971),
    Larry Eustachy: 101-59, (1999-2003), 2 Conference Titles, 2 NCAA, 1 NIT
    Tim Floyd: 81-47, (1995-1998), 3 NCAA
    Bill Strannigan: 69-46, (1955-1959)
    Clayton Sutherland: 63-89, (1948-1954)
    Fred Hoiberg: 62-39, (2010-Present), 2 NCAA
    Greg McDermott: 59-68, (2007-2010)
    Wayne Morgan: 55-39, (2004-2006), 1 NCAA, 1 NIT

Hoiberg has almost matched what Tim Floyd did in his time at Iowa State. It's amazing how little McDermott did, and give Wayne Morgan some credit. The guy got to the NCAA'and NIT. He also had a winning record, better than useless McDermott.

This post is about Hoiberg though. He will keep on climbing the list, continue to get NCAA tourney appearances, hopefully some conference titles and conference tournament titles, and maybe just maybe a national title. Actually my one wish is to see ISU in final four. I don't care if we win in the final four, just would love to have that feeling that we got to a final four. Maybe Fred can take us there.

Keep winning Fred! We believe in you!

Re: Hoiberg ratcheting up those wins

CycloneMBB had a tweet the other day that said that 2011-12 and 2012-13's combined two-year win total ranked third in school history behind Larry and Tim.

To me, Fred has clearly reached that same echelon, and to do in such a short amount of time with no prior coaching experience is really truly remarkable.

This year's team was capable of a conf. title had a couple breaks gone our way.

So CFH will most likely reach win number 100 in two seasons. That's some good work in what will be 5 seasons after inheriting only 3 (I believe?) scholarship players.

Yep, and both years would have had deep runs in the NCAA with better seeding luck.

    I'm not 100% behind this.

Yes, UK was the worst of the 1's we could've met (or the least-beatable), but 2011-12 also didn't strike me as a deep-run team anyway. Capable of knocking out a different 1 if they play like the UK effort, but still wouldn't have expected it.

This season, I may have liked chances vs. Miami better (I don't know what to think about playing Gulf Coast based on tournament performance, although that's an ought-to win over a team we had already beaten).

Also: You have to advance a round anyway, so don't omit the 8/9 & 7/10 pairings that actually happened. UConn and N.D. were favorable matchups for ISU (and it showed on the court).

All we have to do is go 38-0 next year and he is already there. I am not sure how many games is the max for the season but if your gonna drink the kool aid you might as well drink by the gallon!

I really do think that Morgan was a better coach than people give him credit for. That being said, I'm glad it worked out the way it did with us eventually getting Fred

How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm once they've seen Carl Hungus?

Fred did a remakable job with that 16-16 team what with the 6'10" shooting guard and 6'1" power forward.

    Damn.....Larry cranked out production.

Hoiberg will be all time everything when he is done at ISU.

I wouldn't expect to see a comma behind "NCAA" at any time either. Just look for the number in front of it to keep getting bigger.

Huh, never felt like McDermott had anything close to 59 wins.
