    I have never been to a Gophers game. So, I don't really mean to slam on them, but, if you've ever been to Hilton, seriously, it would be really tough to leave that place if you weren't forced to. I can't even imagine what they have for basketball, but without a practice facility even. Hilton trumps all.

    The Barn is up there as far as basketball arena meccas go. Hilton is great, but the Barn has far more history, and can get insanely loud. One of the last "old time" fieldhouse type arenas left.

    I just thought of this after reading their board, not something I usually do for any other team than ISU, but, if they have such a rich BBall tradition and think so highly of themselves, where is there ex-player to coach. I mean seriously, why would anyone think a guy like Hoiberg would leave here. It's like asking Jerry Jones to sell the Cowboys only to buy the Detroit Loins.

    Yeah, just looked it up. Crazy place, reminds me of the old Chicago Stadium. Loudest place I've ever been. Stands on top of stands on top of stands. My only question then to their fans would be, "How many games has Fred won there?" Sometimes it is tough to leave your home. I deal with that every day living in Chicago.

    The place used to be an awesome venue but the crowds aren't what they used to be and I don't think the young guys are all that impressed with the history. I still kinda like the place but it is also sort of a dump compared to what other Div 1 schools have. I really used to enjoy going there for games but that was a long time ago.

    This.

    Minnesota is a lateral move at best compared to Iowa State right now. Talk about their past or the Barn all they want. Hilton is an AMAZING place to see bball and we've got plenty of history as well, but that is just what it is - history. Iowa State has been better lately compared to the Gophers (when we're they relevant last? like 1997?) We've been to the tourney back to back years and we've had probably the quickest turnarounds back to being a Big 12 contender again. Fred has shown to be a fantastic coach. He is staying (for the LONG haul) and that's all I care about. I see many more tourney appearances in the future.
