    Iowa State's leadership

I posted this in another thread but I think the topic deserves its own discussion.

We really need to give a lot of credit to the people that made Fred's contract happen these past few days. Both President Leath and Jamie Pollard realized there was a potential issue and made something happen. Any way you look at it, that's just great leadership at the top.

Congrats to CFH, but really, congrats to President Leath and Jamie Pollard, too.

    Re: Iowa State's leadership

Absolutely. Pollard has proven his worth time and again, and President Leath has given me good vibes from day 1. Loved seeing him show up on road trips for football and basketball. The man gets it, and ISU is in good hands right now.

Side note: First interaction with President Leath was at the Alumni Center. I was there for a meeting with other young alumni. Left the meeting room to use the restroom and he was far across the room having a conversation. As I passed, he turned away from his conversation, waived and asked me how I was doing. Did not know me, but took the time to say hello. Good man in my book.

These two men are excellent leaders for Iowa State and they know a good thing when they see it. Great job in locking down our Mayor!

-ISU President Gregory Geoffroy; circa May 2003.

I've heard the same from other people. I've never met him but he seems to have made an impression.

Sure hard to replace President Geoffroy but Leath is off to a good start.

It will be very interesting to watch Iowa State over the next few years. Leath wants to grow to 35,000 students. It should be an exciting time in Iowa State history.

Both very true. Geoffroy was a phenomenal university president. Leath is certainly off to a great start as well. And we all know JP is the perfect person to be leading the Athletic Department. ISU is in good hands.

Anyone else think our football coach is severely under paid now?

Football drives the revenue.....just a thought

    Re: Iowa State's leadership

Yeah, I'm "all in" for both of them. I have had the pleasure to have some chats with Jamie that are both sports and non-sports related. He is a legit good man and leads that way and I truly believe we are seeing the fruits of that. I was joking with him one time and said, "So, ISU wouldn't ever hire Bobby Petrino?" (In reference to his last firing situation) and he said, "absolutely not...and if others said that was who we needed to hire, I'd look for a new job." The ISU brand goes far beyond a logo.

I was helping host a bigger event last year and Leath came and I asked if he wanted time to get in front of the group and give a speech and he said, "that's ok, I want to just mingle" and he did for a long time. Very genuine guy, I think ISU is in great hands.
