Mayor pay ranks 4th in Big 12 now, hope keeps going up..

As of March 11, 2013 according to DSM Reg:
    1. Bill Self, Kansas, $3.865 (Closer to $5 million with retention bonuses; through 2021-22)

    2. Bob Huggins, W. Virginia, $3 million (Recent 5-year extension contract through 2022-23

    3. Rick Barnes, Texas, $2.475 million (Contract runs through 2014-15 season)

    4. Fred Hoiberg, Iowa State, $2 million (Deal through 2023)

    5. Scott Drew, Baylor, $1.826 million

    6. Travis Ford, Okla. State, $1.725 million (Pay increases $175,000 next season)

    7. Lon Kruger, Oklahoma, $1.7 million (Deal through 2017-18 increases by $100,000/yr)

    8. Bruce Weber, K. State, $1.5 million (Deal through 2016-17 increases by $100,000/yr)

    9. Trent Johnson, Texas Christian, $1.5 million* (Contract runs through 2017-18 season)

    10. Chris Walker, Texas Tech, $300,000 (Agreed to six-month interim deal after Billy Gillispie stepped down)

I think he's still a relative bargain. As he keeps moving forward and gets to and past Sweet 16, Elite Eight or Final Four, along with some conference championships or runner ups, I really see us having to bump him up past Rick & Huggy Bear, but not Self until we win the big one as Self has. Let's just hope we have to keep re-negotiating his contract!

Looks like he is right there where he belongs right now. Its hard to put him above the anyone in the top 3, because they have done it over the long haul.

The Top 3 have all been to the Final 4. Once Fred takes us there, he should surpass them.

Careful what you wish for as for salaries! We were all for Ferentz and look what has happened! Fred is a great coach and has done wonderful! Just enjoy the ride while it lasts!

Honesty I think Fred is such an ISU fan if he became like Frenetz he'd say you know what maybe I should just walk away and go back to an NBA front office.

Kirk on the other hand continues to chew gum.

Salary wise he's just about perfect on the list I think. He's got a lot of work to do before he can expect Self type money. Barnes is overpaid, but had a good track record for a while.

It's nice to see him about Drew.

Do we know he gets $2M X 10 years or is it like an increasing amount each year for the ten years?

Not to mention Huggins and Barnes could be on the hot seat before you know it. In todays world it's got more to do with what have you done for me lately, especially if you are getting paid like they are.

Thats what I was thinking, that is what his last contract was structured like. I haven't seen the details yet, but I would bet this first year under the new contract would be closer to 1.5 mil with the tenth year being 2.5.

Ill put any dollar that if I get this ball again, Long said, Its going in.

For those hoping we continue to move Hoiberg up the list better not be part of the crowd that whines when Pollard starts pushing for increased donations or when ticket prices rise. Let's not forget where our athletic budget falls in relation to our fellow Big XII schools. The money isn't going to appear out of the sky.

I have cheap seats, which are a bargain even after the latest increase. You won't hear any complaining from me.

What a terrible analogy. Hawkfan is so jealous.

My guess is it will be the same exact contract CPR has. Essentially Hoiberg will be making like $1.5-$1.6 Million next season, and will get a $100K increase each year through the 10 years. So he will still be towards the bottom end of coaching salaries next season.

Careful saying "we" on a rival's board. I know what you meant but it took a few seconds to understand it was written from a UI perspective.

No matter what, I could NEVER cheer for Dirt and Urine.
