Missouri received more major individual awards this season (3) than it had in the combined previous 11 years of conference play.
Nice to see Rubin get HM, too bad he couldn't have snuck on the 2nd team he was tearing things up in the last half of the season.

It is clear to see from the list that we lacked the talent. The fewest players on the whole list and we were only close to Baylor (4 to their 6).

Well, I'm not sure how college works but in high school honorable mention awards are basically players that your own coach nominated but didn't get enough votes from the other coaches to make 2nd team or 1st team. SO, if it is the same/similar the fact that Baylor had 6 could just mean that Morriss nominated 2 more of his own kids than Gene did. It is not necessarily a reflection of talent.

Do you think KState has more talent than Texas? (14 to 13?)

Texas had more talent but the North teams voted for KState players.

I am not sure how the voting works for HM, but if it is done how you say I still think it is pretty bad that the coach would only think that 4 players were good enough to get nominated.

On another note I see that we are tied for 5th in number of major awards with 6 over its 12 year history, not bad. I believe this list includes

1996 Troy Davis Conference Player of the Year
1998 Jesse Bechom Defensive Newcomer of the Year
2001 Seneca Wallace Offensive Newcomer of the Year
2003 Jason Berryman Defensive Newcomer of the Year
2004 Tim Dobbins Defensive Newcomer of the Year
    and I assume
2004 Todd Blythe Offensive Freshman of the Year

Oklahoma has won the most major awards in the 12-year history of the Big 12 with 19. Texas is next with 18 winners followed by Kansas State (13), Nebraska (9), Colorado (6), Iowa State (6), Kansas (6), Missouri (5), and Texas Tech (5).

Bowen's 1st in my book...but I hope to see a lot more Cyclones on that list and in the NFL after Chizik's teaching.

Did I miss something? I didn't see Colt McCoy or the Tech quarterback even receiving Honorable mention. Talk about a tough group.

Harrell is 2nd team QB. You're right about McCoy not even receiving HM.

And we'll have that damn Daniels fellow to deal with again next year too.

At least we got a few on the list.

Does anyone think he'll go pro? Believe me, I'm not saying he will, this is just a question I've been pondering for a while now. All I hear on inside the NFL, sports radio, pre-game shows, is how bad the quarterback play is in the NFL outside of a handful of teams. So, as the draft sets up, it sounds like a lot of teams might be looking to make a move in this department. I don't know if he's ready yet, but, it sounds like this could be the year to be a top prospect QB in the draft.

Sorry, don't mean to derail the thread either.

I think he will go to the work outs and decide then..i think you can do that.. but if he is impressing scouts i dont see why he wouldnt...

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."
